I took the photo for Laura McGucken today at Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, Ca. Unfortunately there are no headstones in her Block. There is only grass where she is buried. I posted the picture on her page.

RE: More Bakers
Another Baker family we came across in Mount Peace was:
Frank Baker, 1897-1898
Sarah Baker, 1832-1916
Bartholomew Baker, 1862-1950
S. Emma Baker, 1869-1956
Mabel K Baker, 1902-1960
Thomas B. Baker, 1901-1980
Sarah Baker, 1899-1993
Ralph Baker, 1898--1974
There is a stone.

In another lot was William E.S. Baker, 72, 1942 and Martha M. Baker, 79, 1947. Burial records show Marshalls and Newitts in the lot also. I wasn't looking for this stone and didn't take a picture. Burial records Show a Liddie G. Baker, age 36, buried 1881 in a lot with Jeffries and Fosters. No stone noted.

We looked for the stone in the 4/11/2012 photo request for William and Mary in lot 123, which is F-123. We could not locate any stone there.

I hope all of this helps with your Baker family research. - JohnF

RE: Thanks again
We came across one stone that simply says BAKER. I looked up the burial records for the area around where I thought it to be. There are Bakers and Bells in what appears to be back to back lots. I see two Bakers in those lots. One is Earnest Baker, age 29, buried 1950, "war casualty". The other is Earnest Edward Baker, age 56, buried 1942. There is a stone listed for Earnest Edward.
I'll look up the other one later and send another message. - JohnF

RE: Thank you (Baker)
It wasn't an easy find. We used the names on the adjacent graves as a locator guideline because we didn't think there was a stone. We were also pleasantly surprised in two ways. One that there was a stone in place, and two, that a marble stone could be in place that long and still be able read the inscription . . . rare.

We did come across two other Baker stones in D section. I'll have to see if they are already posted. For your information the Baker at F-123 didn't appear to have a stone.

Happy to be of help. - JohnF

RE: Jack Erwin
Thank you for letting me know. It clarifies my curiosity. I hope I didn't offend by my question. My self accepted project is learn about the individuals warriors and how they met their fates in the Philipines. I started out with an Uncle as well, then decided to continue learning about other kinsman. It truly is an amazing thing all the brave accomplished, even through the tragic loss. I SALUTE each and everyone of them.

1SGT Jack Guest Erwin, 56787959

Hi! Just have a question about 1SGT Jack Guest Erwin's picture. He is wearing the rank of LT. and he was a 1SGT. Is this picture correct, or is it a picture of 1LT Jack Erwin, who is also interned at Manila American Cemetery.

Just asking because I am researching 1LT Jack Erwin, specifically trying to identify his parents.

Mary McGuckin

I am trying to fulfill your photo request for Mary McGuckin in Calvary Cemetery. There are 2 Mary McGuckins in this cemetery. Can you give me a little more to go on like an apx date of birth?

I have the picture of her stone, but she is actually in Plainview Memorial Park -- across the street from the Plainview Cemetery. There is a separate listing for that cemetery on this website. If you want to move her memorial, let me know and I will add the photo. . . . Sandy
