Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been doing genealogical research for about nine years now. The family names I am most interested in are Mannenbach, Retterath, Foertsch, and Bleuel in Wisconsin (the Holyland area), and Hendricks, Boysen, Zessin, and McGrath in Nebraska and Iowa.

Sr. Mary Leon Foertsch
Hi Judy, the memorial for Sr. Mary is just a "in memoriam" since her body was donated to science. Not quite sure if she actually ended up in Milw. or in IA as the end result. That information is from the cemetery office. As far as her name "Mary" not being on the stone, that is how it was printed on the monument, so I didn't cut off her name. Not sure why they didn't include it. So the memorial is "technically" not a duplicate, it's just a recognition. Thanks for the heads up though, it is appreciated. Regards, Nadeen

Hi Judy, I believe there was some correspondence between the person that requested the picture and myself as to that probability. The dates and name are the same for both. Unfortunately, in the meantime, my hard drive crashed and we were unable to retrieve that correspondence among many other things. If you are uncomfortable with the match, I would be glad to remove the picture. Lon

Yes, she was the sender. The one receiving the card, Jenny Alf, was a nanny for my great grandparents in the very early 1900's. And yes, that is the Lutheran school near Potter. I went to that school myself. It's a bit pricey, but interesting

Yes, she was married to Robert Bessert. Her maiden name was Stache. She was my great grandfather's youngest sister. In my teen years I spent a lot of time with her sons, Henry and Otto Bessert.

I'd be happy to keep my eye out for Popps! :) St. Joseph's Cemetery in Appleton is up by my parents' house-- so I won't be there again right away, but I am there fairly frequently. I'll keep my eye out for you anywhere else I happen to be as well. :)

I did not see a Thelma. :( If it had been right in a row with the others, I definitely would have seen it, but if it wasn't right there, maybe not. I did see other Popp markers in the cemetery when I was walking around...

I'm sorry I didn't have anything with me to brush off the lichen...

RE: Helen Hahn
I contacted my Father who confirmed that Helen's Maiden name was Boysen. I have updated the memorial accordingly.
