Bio Photo PLEASE NOTE: I will have limited internet use for a time. I will try my best to accomplish edits and answer messages, but I do anticipate some delays. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
I was born in the Midwest, but have lived most of my life in the south. I was stationed in Germany for a time, and have otherwise done a little travel to Europe and Asia. I spend far too much time on the computer, enjoy a good frappuccino, and I ♥LOVE♥ cats.

My primary family names are Sullivan, McCoy, Withee, Fredendall, Washburn, Nesbit, Schmidt, Petersen, Meyer (Meier), Markman, Pease, Millikan, Donnan, and still counting.

I view the memorials on this site as living tributes to our loved ones. I strive to "reunite" them with family, and if I am able, to add a personal detail or two about them.

You are welcome to use any photos which I have uploaded for your personal family research work, but please do not use them for commercial purposes. The photos I upload are intended as gifts for the families of the deceased with no regard for personal profit, with the exception of the honor of providing them, and I wish for this to be respected.

Photo Allotments

We are allotted 20 photo requests per week. I am requesting for everyone to please use your allotment. Memorials you manage, memorials I manage ~ it doesn't matter.

Headstone photos may assist in providing confirmation of birth and death details, marriage dates, children, spellings, and might even lead to the discovery of additional family members.

Requests fulfillments also provide a small reward to our volunteers who often drive several miles to obtain a photo. I have so often seen where someone will request a photo, and then ask for the volunteer to take a photo of their spouse too, without submitting the request for the additional photo. Why?

It's much easier to request 20 photos in a cemetery that it is for the volunteer to drive out, take them, edit them, caption them, and post them. While I do try to get other family near the one requested in case they are not already listed, it is nice if you also request them, so please take the time to request them and please try to remember to use your weekly allotment.

Suggestions, Corrections, and Transfers

I generally adhere to Find A Grave transfer request guidelines, but before requesting, please keep in mind that even a "starter" memorial involves effort to create and I am more than willing to accomplish edits. Also, if a transfer or edit request comes off as pushy, arrogant, demanding, or rude, do not be surprised if you are ignored.

This site was created as a means of helping others, and not intended as a means to criticize, harass, bully or badger. Be kind to your fellow volunteers as we are all trying to achieve the same goal of helping others.

Hi again, Sheila,
I see that Nesbit is one of the names your are researching. I have some Nesbits in my tree, beginning with Milton Kidd in the late 1800's. Does that sound like any of your group?

RE: Oscar Taylor
Thanks Sheila, But this seems to be the wrong cemetery. As best as I can tell, there is a St Matthew cemetery near Creston, and another near Melrose. I am interested in the one at Melrose. That one seems to be off everyone's radar. Do you know anything about it?

Thanks for being a Find A Grave volunteer.

RE: George Corliss, # 106026203
I appreciate your help. As far as I recall, George had several members of his family in WWII, including a niece and a couple of nephews. One of those nephews, I recently learned, acquired horses for China and after the war he never owned a tractor, always using horses for farm work. George had two cousins shot down and killed, one in the North Sea and one in China. So many interesting things to learn. I am curious what your source was on George's military service?

Thank you for adding George's military picture. I didn't know he served and more are showing up little by little. I suppose more is made of the ones who didn't survive the war.
If you are descended from the Corliss family you may wish to receive an invitation to my DropBox folder containing about 1000 photos. The major contributor was George's sister, Nell Corliss Lake. While there are photos of my direct line, there are many that other cousins would be interested in seeing, especially further up the tree. I am always looking for anyone who can potentially help identify unknowns, provide confirmation of the knowns and also share additional photos.
We can switch to email if you have questions.

Loos transfer
Sheila, thank you so very much for transferring the memorial for Aurelia Heidenreich Loos to me. I was so hoping you'd say you were a member of the Heidenreich family :) I do appreciate your kindness.

Westlawn-Hillcrest Vets
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

Don Gross
Phillip Christian Gross

Phillip Christian Gross (b. October 30, 1847) married Mary C. Steinbach (February 4, 1854 Ė June 13, 1911) on November 23, 1871 in Adams County. They had three children, Albertha Magdalena, Andrew Simon, and Clara Amanda. He died sometime between September 24, 1883 and February 5, 1885. I donít have any confirming death records. She remarried Hans Heinrich Kruger on January 4, 1887. They had three children, Cora, Charlotte, and Henriette. Mary Steinbeck (Gross) Kruger and Hans Heinrich Kruger are both buried in Godís Little Acre (St. Paulís Lutheran) Cemetery in Fontanelle, Washington County, Nebraska.

Hope that helps.

P.S. May I ask your about your interest in the Gross family?
