I was born and raised in California. I am now retired and living in Klamath Falls, Oregon. My mother married my "step-father" when I was four years old and he later adopted me. He is the only father I have ever known and out of respect for him I never tried to learn about my birth father. With Dad's dementia in its final stages and my adult children nudging me to find out about our "roots" I began looking into genealogy.

I found out that genealogy can become all consuming if allowed. I love puzzles and this is an extremely challenging one. My husband became interested in genealogy in the 1970's and we both spend a good part of our day at our computers tracking our individual histories. This has naturally led to and interest in Find A Grave. It is nice to have a partner with the same interests and to share your discoveries with or to ask help or advice from as needed. I have discovered numerous previously unknown family members through this experience.

Through Find A Grave we have encountered many wonderful volunteers with similar interests and we greatly appreciate their helpful efforts.

The picture you use for an unmarked grave is wonderful and I thought I should say thank you for sharing this little angel

Do you happen to know what John's middle name is? I can add it to his memorial if you like or transfer he and his wife's memorial to you...let me know. Joann

RE: Lawson Monnet
Your very welcome. I also know the vicinity in which Isaac Monnet is buried but unfortunately the tombstones are all gone. Are you related to the Monnet family?

Joseph Moss d. 1727
Hi

You had requested a photo of the stone for Joseph Moss, who died in 1727 and was reportedly buried in the old burying ground in Derby, Connecticut. A short while ago I walked the entire yard, and photographed every single stone. If Joseph Moss is not listed, I am sorry to say that his stone no longer exists. There was a hideous flood in the Naugatuck river valley in 1955. It took many lives and wiped out a tremendous amount of property. Many of the stones in this historic (1639) yard were ruined or lost. In addition, time, acid rain, vandalism and neglect have taken their toll. This graveyard is in severe disrepair. You would do well to contact the Derby Historical Society ( http://derbyhistorical.org/ ) and see if they have a record to confirm he is indeed interred there. All the best, Alycia

RE: Photo request
That happens a lot. I have photographed the entire East Lawn Cemetery two years ago, so have over 7,000 pictures of headstones. What irritates me is when I get a request and I don't have the photo. Did I miss it? or it's an unmarked grave.

Willet Loyd Robinson
I noted you had posted a photo of WL Robinson on site 25716946. Based on the dates, his son -- also Willet Loyd -- may also be in this cemetery: 25716965. Do you have any knowledge they might be father & son so they could be linked? Also, mother?
Just curious as I did a "complete" photo shoot of this cemetery recently. Kathryn

I had already transferred the memorial over to you, so you can do whatever you want with the memorial.
