Bio and Links
Bio Photo I started my family research in 2003, and have been hooked ever since. When I discovered my 4th-great grandparents (Daniel Stark, memorial #13224388, and Margaret Gonterman Stark, memorial #13224392) at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Nelson County, I realized that I was related to the majority of the people buried in that cemetery, and that many of the gravestones were deteriorating. Thus started my path of recording entire sections of cemeteries (and sometimes, entire cemeteries). The thought of losing the inscriptions on gravestones fills me with great sadness – as if once the stones are illegible, the person who was someone's mother/father, sister/brother, daughter/son is one more step on the path of the forgotten.

Bio:
I was born and raised in Louisville, KY., and have spent all but 6 years living here. I lived in New Jersey for a time when I relocated there for work, but like many Louisvillians…I couldn't stay away. I love my city (and my U of L Cards!).

Names in my family line are:
Breen (Ireland – New Haven, CT – Chicago, IL – Louisville, KY)
Bohr (Germany – Louisville, KY)
Queenan (Sligo, Ireland – Louisville, KY)
Banet (France – New Orleans, LA – Floyd Knobs, IN)
Henle (Germany – Louisville, KY)
Stark (Nelson/Bullitt County, KY)
Mahoney (Nelson/Bullitt County, KY)
Ryan (Bullitt County, KY)

Methodology:
My method in cemetery recording is to pick a section, photograph all of the stones in that section, and then transcribe them once I return home. I make use of the "Submit A Spreadsheet" function that Find A Grave has, as there are generally 100-300 graves per section. Before I submit the names, I try to fill in as many blanks as possible – full/maiden names, missing dates, parents/children, etc., making use of Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org. Any information I post that is in addition to or that conflicts with the data on the stone, I try to cite in the Notes section of the memorials (or the Bio section, if the text I need to add is too long for the Notes section). Prior to posting, I always try to see if a memorial for a person has already been created so that I do not post duplicates…sometimes I miss a few.

Please let me know if you find that one of my memorials is a duplicate of one that was posted before mine and I will gladly delete it.

I have many more photos of gravestones than I have posted – it is a long process and I get to it when I am able (squeezed between career and family time). The original photos I take are a higher resolution than what Find A Grave will allow to be uploaded. If you would like a copy of the larger, original file, please request one through the Suggest A Correction (SAC) link that is available for every memorial when you click the Edit tab on the top right side of the memorial. You will need to provide me with your e-mail address for me to send a copy to you.

Suggested Updates/Corrections:
I try to be as accurate as possible in the information that I post, citing sources for any assumptions that I may make. If you have suggestions/corrections on a specific memorial of mine, please use the SAC link for that memorial. PLEASE CITE YOUR SOURCES – I am a big proponent of stopping the proliferation of mistaken information that is being presented as "fact". I'll be happy to copy/paste what you provide with supporting citation, and credit you with the updated information. Any SAC's received without explanation will be looked at as time allows. If I can "easily" find supporting data via my normal research tools, then I may make the update.

Please allow a couple of weeks for any updates to be made. Timing depends on what's going on in my life outside of this hobby (or obsession, as my family calls it).

Transfers:
All Find A Grave users should be familiar with the "How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?" section of the Frequently Asked Questions page. I have no problems transferring memorials to someone distantly related outside of these guidelines as long as I am not related to the person myself. Please use the SAC link for the memorial to request transfers with your relationship noted – one per memorial. That makes it easier to find the memorial and make the transfer.

Sitnah Hughes
Chris you posted a picture of a grave stone for Sitnah Hughes listing death year as 1839. Could you please check and see if it is possible that it is 1889? I just found a Kentucky Birth record showing that she had a child in 1859.
Thank you,
Tom Harned

Even though this Louisvillian is not a Cards fan, (yes, I bleed blue), I am grateful that you allowed me to have Elizabeth's memorial. If you were the one who supplied her biographical information, I appreciate that, too.
Thanks and blessings to you and yours in 2016, Sheila

Mary A. Zeller
You graciously transferred management of memorial #103955220 to me in 2014 at my request. Upon additional research, I realize that Mary A. Zeller is not my ancestor. I have moved the memorial back to you. Thank you very much!
