Bio and Links
Bio Photo I came across the findagrave website by accident one day while looking up my wife's obituary. I didn't know that it existed and was touched how someone had put in her obituary on the site. So I felt the need to help out other's as I can.

My wife Tammy Vance Alberthal is buried in the Boerne City Cemetery along with our first dog Oscar.

I retired from working in June 2012. Now I spend my time volunteering at several organizations and going to cemeteries to take pictures then update them on Find a Grave. I have walked and uploaded tombstone pictures of the entire Boerne City Cemetery, Mission Park Cemetery in San Antonio (except for inside the mausoleum) and Der Stadt Friedhof (City Cemetery) in Fredericksburg. Currently I'm working on Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg. I go by and check the mausoleum at Mission Park every now and then but have not found it open.

I'm not a numbers person -- for memorials that I add, I try to find the obituary for the individual and add it to the memorial as well as a picture of the person (and give credit where I found it). I believe everyone has a story and needs to be told to keep their memory alive and for future generations to see.

Don't be afraid to ask for transfers for anybody. I am totally for it and hope others would do the same for me.

My photos are free to anyone who wants to copy them for non-profit purposes, no need to ask. Just say it was from me! I give credit where I found photos on memorials that I add if they are not related to me.

Thanks for correcting the mistake with Calvin's parents. I think I was the one that sent you the wrong information to begin with. William and Margaret were Calvin's grandparents.

Henry Becker
Hi Mark, I've linked Henry to his parents. I sometimes have a problem with trying to make links from the edit tab, esp trying to add additional spouses. Thank you for handling my many requests for links and adding info to memorials, I'm sure there will be many more. I greatly appreciate the many photos you've posted. Thanks, Maggie

RE: Photos to Transcribe
Hi Mark,
Thank you for your help! Please feel free to mark any photo that is not able to be done.

I do try to transcribe all my own photos but do not mind if someone else wants to try to do the ones that they can. Many of the photos are taken as a reference point and actually do get deleted as I go through them.

The problem I am having with the Beta version is that when I go to transcribe the ones I uploaded it only gives me a few (not even the whole batch I uploaded for a particular cemetery) then gives me other peoples photos to transcribe!

On a good week (one with both good weather and no overtime at work) I actually take over 400 photos, which is why I tried this method so I can add them quicker... not sure it is actually working out that way though.

Thank you again,

Duplicate pictures
When transcribing pictures and you notice that the picture has already been added: There is a flag that shows in upper right corner. Hover over the flag and hit duplicate.
There are many duplicate pictures so I always look for the memorial and see what is shown.

RE: Gaus duplication
I am guessing that we are still in a Beta format and there will be changes. But I will be uploading and letting the chips fall where they may. Its better to have dups than no pic as far as I am concerned. On the other hand, I don't want to be the one to delete a transcribers work. So I transfer them out figuring that those that notice are probably related. Bill

Gaus duplication
I am a shooter in Pittsburgh. I go into a cemetery and shoot 500 pictures an hour. Findagrave now has a bulk upload program. I upload my pictures and Findagrave volunteers transcribe them. This new Bulk tool is supposed to eliminate dups. Obviously not happening. Note that the memorial and picture which they attribute to me has been transcribed. I have about 300 thousand pix that I will soon be uploading. There will be a lot more dups. Bill
