I joined Find-A-Grave to "pay forward" the help I have received from others.|
Most of the cemeteries, in Defiance and Williams County Ohio, have been read/walked and indexed. I would be willing to look up and send information if requested. I am most knowledgeable about the cemeteries in Farmer Twp. and Washington Twp., Defiance County; and for St. Joseph Twp., Springfield Twp. and Pulaski Twp., in Williams County.
OF INTEREST to others may be the link to the Williams County Public Library (WCPL) obituary index. Anyone who has died in the Williams County, Ohio area since 1870 is most likely on the index. Many Defiance County, Ohio obituaries were included in the Williams County newspapers. I suggest searching by using the last name only. Keep in mind the spellings may vary so try several options if you do not get results on the first search. If a name is listed more than once, it is because an obit was published in more than one local paper. Not all of the papers have been added, so check back often to see if there is a new entry for one of your Ancestors.
The obituary index direct link is
http://obits.mywcpl.org/ (updated 01-2015)
You can request obits online and they will be sent by email.
The link to the WCPL library history and genealogy department is
http://www.mywcpl.org/local (updated 01-2015)
The above URL will have links to Williams and Defiance County Genealogy Society websites.

The Woodlawn Cemetery records state this individual is buried in the City Lot. This land is considered a Potters Field and there is a stone marker indicating this. The land is directly south of the office and adjacent to Webster Ave. Less than a dozen markers are visible and most cannot be read, even with a rubbing. Was not able to locate a marker for any of the eighteen (18) requests. Sorry!

I am fairly close- about 20 minutes or so away. My next couple of days are pretty much full up, but I will see what I can do for you toward the end of the week.
|Hallie Smeltz Martinson||Jacob Smeltz/Schmeltz Family|
I am researching Smeltz/Schmeltz's in Ohio and found you had posted a LOT of information on the family of Jacob.
You am I have the same children for him, BUT, I have a Frederick Jacob Schmeltz (Fred Smeltz) in the 1870 census along with the other children.
Fred was born about 1850. Later he became a preacher. Fred used the Schmeltz spelling in his adult life.
I am trying to see if Jacob's is a brother of my direct line of Smeltz's in Carroll County, Ohio.
Any information I would really appreciate.
