Bio and Links
Bio Photo A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I've lived since 1998 in the Historic Licking Riverside Neighborhood of Covington directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati. Much of my time on Find A Grave has been spent documenting the Grabinschriften of the German immigrants who settled in such large numbers in this region, especially the members of the Deutsche Pionier-Verein.

William Davies
Greetings, Todd. First, thank you for all of your contributions to the Find a Grave community. What a treasure. And, thanks especially for your work at Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville. I’m helping a friend with the family of William Norville Davies (96668247) and I notice a “Jr” has been added to his name. Was that an edit from someone, or do you have information about the family? Also the stone gives death year of 1872 and cemetery records indicate 1876. I wonder if the stone is wrong or the cemetery made a typo of the year? Will be grateful for any help you can give or suggest regarding him. THANKS!

RE: Anna Maria Garthwaite
Hello Mr. Whitesides,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I believe Miles is Ephraim's brother.

I've known about Anna Maria for years---12?---from a book about textiles in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. As I said, there doesn't seem to be any information about her personal life, but plenty of her designs remain in the museum's collection. If you do some research, would you please let me know what you find out? My work has just begun

Thanks again.

Anna Maria Garthwaite
Hello Mr. Whitesides---

I'm not adding something, I'm asking. Why did you add a page about Anna Maria Garthwaite? I am beginning to collect information about her in order to write a book. She was one of the top silk designers in mid-18th century in London's East End---Spitalfields, to be exact. There is very little known about her, and the years of her birth vary from source to source. My kinship with her is professional, rather than familial. I used one of her designs as a basis for one of my designs, during my professional career. (Retired now, and finally illustrating and writing full time.) While it would be nice to know where she's buried, it's not important.

The book will be historical fiction---I doubt there will be enough for a biography. I had the same problem with my first book, "Master of the Sweet Trade: A Story of the Pirate Samuel Bellamy, Mariah Hallett, and the Whydah." A fictional biography---so to speak.

Thank you very much if you are able to shed some light on this mysterious, but talented, woman.
