|George Seitz||Contention Estate Cemetery|
I noticed your note to Thomas J. Fraser regarding the photographing of Contention Estate Cemetery. Being very interested in such things, it was my pleasure to do so yesterday. I have added all the legible entries. They all post-date the Governor and all are from the Guy family. There are two illegible markers I am still researching. There are also approximately a dozen fieldstones. You can see the results on the site now.
You are quite welcome. In addition to his wife, Carrie and Mary are also buried there with Charles.

|Thomas J Fraser||RE: Contention Estate|
I visited that cemetery about 4.5 years ago--I recall it was located just down the road from the estate and it was surrounded by a stone wall. I only took a picture of James Pleasnts' stone, which was obviously not the original stone, but a more modern flat marker. Sorry I do not have any other pictures. Tom

It could very well be that one of the crosses represents Kristine Egeness.
Ancestry's Minnesota Cemetery Inscription Index, Select Counties about Kristine H Egeness reads:
Woodman Cemetery: BURIED FROM MENIGHET CHURCH, FARIBAULT, MN. PROBABLE BURIAL
It is from the Dalby Database that contains over one million records. Burials from cemeteries in Minnesota and some outside
of Minnesota, Births, Marriages, Census, Rice County
City Directories, Civil War Veterans, Articles from
Newspapers and Index of people in books.
You can search this database at http://www.dalbydata.com/ or
For assistance contact John or Jan Dalby:
email@example.com http://www.dalbydata.com/ or John Dalby [firstname.lastname@example.org]. I'm not sure which if any are current.
According to a local newspaper the Menighet Church later became the First English Lutheran Church:
25 Years Ago: Faribault Daily News, Mar. 6-8, 1986
First English Lutheran was celebrating 125 years of ministry. Although the present parish was organized in 1931, merging several churches, its earliest ancestor was Faribault Menighet, a small congregation of Norwegian Americans begun in 1861. Its founding pastor later served as president of Luther College.
Present church location: 204 2nd St NW, Faribault, MN 55021
You may be able to contact the church to see if they have any old records. I'm not sure who you would contact to see if there is a plot number.
