I would be happy to transfer ownership of memorials of people to whom I am not related so you can add info to the memorial. I only post what I get from either photos I have taken or published cemetery readings. If you want to add info to a memorial I have posted, you can do that after I transfer the memorials to you. You might want to just use the "suggest a correction" feature and send me a smiley face and I will automaticly transfer the memorial to you that way you dont have to spend the time typing the information you want me to add. I get a lot of these "suggestions" because I post spreadsheets from local cemetery readings and I do not have time to add all the additional information I receive every day. I try my best to go back through and eliminate any duplicate postings after I submit the spreadsheets and they are posted. If I have missed one, let me know and I will delete my duplicate. Just use the suggest a correction feature and type the word "duplicate" and I will delete it. It happens sometimes :)|

I am sorry for the confusion. As I said I was not trying to be rude. Unfortunately I did not see your e-mail before I left you the message all I saw was an e-mail from findagrave telling me you had transferred the memorial without asking me if I wanted it and this is the 2nd time that has happened to me, I just feel it is something that a person should be asked about 1st as I look at it as a great responsibility. I just sent you an e-mail back and your right, you were very quick in your response and I appreciate whatever help you gave me in the e-mail. This has been an unfortunate mis-understanding or mis-communication. I admire you and all the other findagravers who go out and walk the cemetery's and take pictures and create these wonderful memorials. They are a priceless resource for researchers like myself.

I did not ask for you to transfer Joseph Stanton's memorial to me and I will be transferring back to you as soon as I figure out how. You didn't send me a message asking if I wanted it or answer any of the questions I asked you. I am a researcher. I am disabled and cannot go out and walk cemetery,s and I am very grateful for all the volunteers who do so much work for findagrave. It is a wonderful blessing for those of us trying to find our ancestors. This is the 2nd time I have asked a findagraver a question about a very very distant relative and they just transferred their memorials to me without asking. The last time this happened I suddenly had 13 memorials I now am responsible for. I was upset by this as I have a very limited amount of time & energy when I can sit at my computer due to chronic pain & other health problems. I use what little time I feel good enough to sit at my computer to do research and work on my family trees. The 13 memorials I decided to go ahead and keep because they were in my direct line. Joseph's is not. I'm not trying to be rude but why would you do this without asking a person 1st? Also why didn't you answer any of my questions, they were important to me and your help would be appreciated.

Chris: I see that the person who took the photo of Joseph's headstone has passed away. I don't know if you live in the same area. I have looked at this photo of his headstone and enlarged as much as I can. It looks to me like the age when he died might be 40 instead of 10 years old. Look at the way the 4 is carved in the year above it (Dec. 10, 1842). The left side of 4 is more lightly carved? Then look at the 1 below it. It looks to me like it could be a 4 also just with the left side of 4 more lightly carved like the 4 above, also if you look at the symmetry of the headstone if it is a 1 and not a 4 then the symmetry is off on the left side in that one place only and I don't think the engraver would have done that. Look how symmetrical all the rest of the headstone is, you can tell the person who made this headstone took pride in their work. Is there any way I can get someone to go back to this cemetery and really look at this headstone and perhaps feel it to see and make out clearly if these are 4's or 1's. People are assuming this is the right headstone for the Joseph in their tree's which would be mine as well. He was born in 1802 and died in 1842 in this same area. So if these are 4's then this is most likely his headstone. If the 1842 is correct and 10 years old is correct then this Joseph was born in 1832 not 1802. I have a strong feeling this is the right Joseph but I am a stickler for proof and not assumption. Also if the age is 40 years and not 10 years then the birthdate "unknown" would need to be edited and 1802 put in it's place, correct? Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks so much for what you do for findagrave. It is such a great help to those of us searching for our ancestors. I look forward to hearing back from you.

In my wanderings around Find a Grave, I found a duplicate for this guy. Do you remember if when you created this that you actually took the pic and created it or did it some other way.
The dup is in a completely different cemetery but the dates are the same and so is the headstone.

Thank you for all the transfers. I'm sure you have others I'm interested in, but these will keep me busy for awhile. Cheers! John D.
