My name is George Muse Gaston and for the last many years I have been tracing my family ancestors by walking through old family cemeteries and checking with county registers where known relatives have lived. It all started when I was nine or ten, helping a 1st cousin on my father's side of the family. For several weeks "Aunt Puddie", as she was known lovingly by the family, and I would head out early in the morning searching for old grave stones from Savannah to Edgefield, South Carolina. I can't remember who we were looking for, but I learned a lot about our family and the social history of the South.|
Family ancestors that I am researching are: Gaston, Muse, Devlin, McKell, Bell, Agnew, Bradley, Bigham, Montgomery, Pressly, Alston, Lyon, Robbins, Glenn, Miller, Flenniken, Faulkner, Moore, May, McDill, Weir, Goode, Greneker, Sligh, Clark, Calhoun, Caldwell, Gilruth, DeWolfe, Dickinson, Rosborough, Emory, Service, Barnhill, Boykin, Wilkinson, Nicholson, Hemphill, Howard, Wylie, Strong, Gladney, Gardiner, Goslan, Ochiltree, Howell, Holloway, Ladd, Witherspoon, Wiseman, Schley, Snellings, Sanders, Lankford, Kyte, Kimball and Kerr. Find-a-Grave has been invaluable with my journey.
You'll see many entries here from the old family church, Cedar Springs Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (1780) in Abbeville County, South Carolina. I have fond memories of going there as a child and having "dinner on the grounds" after Sunday services. Here I have many relatives and always enjoy stopping by and having a long visit when I am in the area.
Since joining "find-a-grave" I have met many wonderful people and appreciate their help in my never ending search of ancestors past. If I can be of help to you in your searches, please email and I will try my best to assist.

|Sarah Hughes||Margaret McQuiston Brown|
I am looking for information about Margaret Brown and stumbled upon your listing at findagrave.com. My husband's 4th great-grandfather was Rev. John Brown, Margaret's husband. I am curious about the listing of a maiden name of McQuiston and wondered if you could pass along information about her.

I enjoy reading old newspapers (Library of Congress website) and trying to match the stories and articles to memorials here on F-A-G. I found an interesting little article in the Abbeville Press and Banner from 11/1/1916 about the astonishing success of Capt. G.N. Nickles at the State Fair with is prize-winning farm products. One prize was a ton of fertilizer! I thought you might like to see the article.
He seems like quite the man.

Nehemiah Howard query: Having earnestly searched records and territory near his lands for years, our covey of Nehemiah Howard's descendants are ecstatic to see the grave photo posted on Find A Grave by Vonnie Cantrell in March 2016. Please, how do we find and visit this gravesite in Hart County, now that we know it is not under Lake Hartwell as we feared it might be? Is it perhaps near Lightwood Log Creek? Do we need permission from a property owner to go there? Blessings on each of you whose efforts are solving this decades-long search for us!
Virginia Howard Barrett Barker, his great-five-times-granddaughter

You have added a photo of a newspaper obituary for Reuben Woodard to his Find a Grave memorial. He MAY be my 3rd great grandfather. Anyway, I was wondering about the source for this clipping and if you have any more information about him and his family.
Thanks for posting this, and for any further assistance you can give me.

Hello, I work for the Litchfield Historical Society and I was wondering where you got the picture of George Tod. I am doing research work on students that attended the Litchfield Law School (first in America). He is one of our students, and I would like to add the photo you used, but I need the source. our website for his profile and for other students is: www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org/ledger
