THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked On a lonely, windswept hill; Today we talked where other cried For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched By graves of tiny babies; Snatched from the arms of loving kin, In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay In the last sleep of their time; Lying under the trees and clouds - Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot; Who lies beneath this hollowed ground? Was it a babe, child, young or old? No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay. We had been here once before On a day we'd all like to forget, But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin The graves of ancestors past; To be preserved for generations hence, A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend, For stones sometimes crumble to dust And generations of folks yet to come Will be grateful for your trust.

Your Welcome. Next to Harry Welch is Louise A Welch 1910-1987 also Harry B Welch, Jr 1937-1975 which I also took pictures of, would you want to create memorials for them?

Can you help me with a family question? I know that Frank J Andler married Frances Galinkska in 1912. The 1930 Federal Census shows that Frank is now divorced and living with his mother. In 1948, Frank was living with my aunt who was widowed. She was Cecila Stritzel nee Wika. I have post cards addressed to my aunt and Frank as "Mr. and Mrs." We have pictures of Frank at family gatherings. My grandfather's obit lists my aunt as a daughter with the name as Mrs. Frank J Andler. Did Frank and Cecilia just live together or did they ever marry? So much time has passed that I just think it is time to clear up their stories. Can you help me out. Judie Wika Miller
Caroline, I just bought your book "Letters Home From the Brothertown Boys" - I've been researching 17th Wisconsin Inf co K at length and this is tremendously helpful. I cannot read the hand written letters though, as they are too small. Is there any way I can see copies? Or other information? I'd be happy to share my research as well. Thanks in advance - Karen Fehlker, email@example.com

Hi Caroline- I have confirmed that Gustave is buried in Union Cemetery. I visited the cemetery in Milwaukee that holds Union's record (Graceland Cemetery). I have created a new memorial for him, and I have put in a photo request.

I contacted Pinelawn Cemetery and they have no record of Gustav being buried there. In fact, they were not in business until 1922. Gustave, who is my g, great grandfather, died in 1894. Here's the note I got from Pinelawn:
Pinelawn opened and began doing interments in 1922, so I didnít expect to see a record of your great great grandfather having been laid to rest here since he passed in 1894. I do see Rosaliaís interment information, which doesnít include anything about Gustave. I was looking to see if perhaps he had been disinterred from another cemetery and reinterred at Pinelawn but no such luck. Iím sorry I donít have any information regarding Gustave at all. "
I am wondering if he is buried in Union Cemetery with other Planers.
