I started researching my husband's family several years ago when we "inherited" all the photos, newspaper clippings, wedding invitations, etc. that his grandmother had kept. I didn't want to throw it all out because it was a lifetime of memories and keepsakes so I began to organize it on a genealogy database. Then I was "hooked"!|
I accidently stumbled onto my cousin's posting on a message board while I was searching for information on MY family and this thing just took on a life of it's own.
I volunteered to take photos for Find-a-Grave after I requested and received some for my postings. It was so exciting to see the stones that I thought it would be nice to reciprocate. I also think I have a "sixth sense" or the deceased just "call to me" because since I started taking photos, I've been to cemeteries that I've never been to and I just seem to be able to walk right up to the grave! I've done it almost every time!
If I have posted something incorrectly or if I have posted something you feel is inappropriate, please email me or leave a message and I will correct it.
I am not related to any of the postings for Mifflin County, PA so I will gladly transfer memorials to a family member, no matter how distant. PLEASE USE THE EDIT TAB AT THE MEMORIAL TO MAKE THE TRANSFER REQUEST. It's much easier that way and all the necessary information is there.
Any photos I post here are free to be used by anyone. If you do not want me to use your photos, please do not claim my requests.

Mona, This is my gt. gt. gt. grandfather Jacob Stahlman. I have spent 30-40 years & thousands of hours documenting his descendants. I published the genealogy in 1994. I spend part of every year on the Stahlman farms at Frogtown. My grandmother Bertha E. Stahlman was born & raised on the Jacob Stahlman farm. Why are you feeling that you want to have it? Please reconsider transferring the memorial to me. Twila

I am trying to use Google maps to look at the area around Swigart cemetery. Thank you for the description and directions. Can you give me any more hints? I found the church, and can follow Ferguson up about two miles. End up near a road called Nascar Lane. Is that close? Other roads nearby are Timber Hollow and Peach Orchard. Is the cemetery near any of those? I found a photo online described as John Swigart's stone house in Oliver Twp. Do you know if it is still there? If so, is it near the cemetery? Sorry to ask so many questions. I am working on a history for my mother-in-law for Christmas. John is her 3rd great grandfather. Thanks!

|Twila Cowan||Jacob Stahlman|
May I please have Jacob Stahlman memorial? He is my 3rd gt. grandfather. I have a picture of him. I published this Stahlman genealogy branch in 1994. My grandma Bertha E. Stahlman was born & raised on the Jacob Stahlman farmhis. I would love to take care of this for my branch of the Stahlman family. I visit Frogtown almost every summer. Thanks. Twila
|Twila Cowan||Margaret Stahlman Brinker|
Will you change the title to Margaret Stahlman Brinker ??
and then the notes will explain the second marriage that was brief and unimportant in her life?
As a Stahlman descendant he name Hulmes does not fit.-double or full cousin to Samuel's line this does not fit using Hulmes. I spent many years on this family and have this branch not far from publishing..Her gt. granddaughter would be horrified with it being Hulmes. She is deceased or I am sure she would be contacting you. Obviously the family wanted her buried as a Brinker...

Thanks so much, Mona, for transfering the memorial for David McConauaghey's spouse. I have been busy adding info from charts.
I love your story of genealogy beginnings dumped in your lap. Thanks for all the follow-up work you've been inspired to do.
