Through research and visiting these cemeteries, I'm hoping to find out more about where I came from and why my ancestors chose to start new lives in the United States. I've started that journey by searching out the final resting places of my family.

I am currently researching the Cmar/Czmar, Orluk, Rydesky/Rydzesky, Urban and Rajaski/Radiszewski families of western Pennsylvania.

Please feel free to take any of my photographs and use them in your own research projects. You don't have to credit me or anything. This is a hobby for me; I won't be bothered with petty fights over "fair use." These are photographs of gravestones and cemeteries, after all -- the subjects won't be complaining!

Should you want a memorial transferred to you, just ask (nicely).

RE: Pollack family
Hello Matt,
I do not know who these other 4 Pollacks are and if they are related. I doubt it. My cousin's grandparents were holocaust survivors and Rose Pollack lost 91 members of her family to the Nazis. When two of her sons died before her she took it very hard. It looks like the other 4 Pollacks are two couples. I think you should continue to maintain them but I will send marker transcriptions for you to add. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness. Warmly, Sara

RE: Bernard Pollack
Thank you so much Matt! It is difficult in old cemeteries when the boundaries are unclear and it makes it seem that relatives are buried in the "wrong" cemetery when actually the cemeteries have merged into each other. Sometimes two memorials end up being created due to this problem. It seems that there are other cemeteries in Pittsburgh with this issue as well. Thank you for all the hard work you do! I really appreciate your thoughtfulness. warmly, Sara

Bernard Pollack
Thank you Matt for transferring this memorial to me. It is my cousin's Uncle who died as a baby. I am trying to help my cousin with her immediate family. Also thank you for not trying to read this very worn headstone and putting wrong dates. I took the dates directly from his death certificate so I know they are right. Unfortunately JOWBR (The Jewish Online Worldwide Burial Records) has put the wrong dates because the person who put them online "guessed".
I do have one question for you : Is the Agudath Achim cemetery next to the Sons of Israel Cemetery? My cousin was concerned that her Dad and Grandparents are buried in the Sons of Israel cemetery but Bernard and her other Uncle Sidney are buried in Agudath Achim. I am wondering if the boundary between the cemeteries in hard to find. Thank you so much. Sara

Matt, thanks for doing the edits so quick and the offer of transfer, I'm just trying to find all the children, maybe when I finish my research I ask for her.

RE: Maxine
Find a grave would not let me delete the old one since I did not create the memorial, but they let me explain why I wanted the old one deleted. I guess they need to review and act on it. I hope that is the right way to interpret what happened when I tried to delete it!
