Currently I am working in the Mt. View Cemetery (Oregon City) in the County Park #1 section (paupers). It has been neglected for many many years. I have unearthed and photographed some 62 headstones and marked their rows. These folks deserve to have their graves maintained as much as anyone else in the cemetery.

I am a 6 generation Oregonian and have been doing my family genealogy since the early 70's. Back then it took months to find out one fact, today with the computer that information can be found in the blink of an eye.
Only now it seems more confusing the first thing I learned back then was to document all my information and make sure the facts were correct. Now a day's people just put anything on the internet only guessing or by family stories, making things more confusing. I am now trying to set apart family fact from fiction to keep the information correct for future generations to come.
I love doing genealogy it's a real life story..like a good book you can't put down the only thing is I will probably never know the ending or the beginning.

My memorials are family and a work in progress, adding to each one as I find family material and photos. I have traveled to Washington, California, Ohio and Pennsylvania doing my family research in cemeteries and historical societies. If you are family I would love to hear from you.

There is nothing worse than someone stealing someone's work, not giving credit to the original poster then pretending it is their work. Please don't be one of those people, and please don't use my photos or documents without asking first.

I do photo requests and take photos while I am in the cemetery. I like to take more than one photo of the headstone, to give you the feeling of being there and seeing the surrounding area. If you would like me to remove any of my photos just ask.

One more thing.. if I find an error on any memorial I will ask for the mistake to be corrected. If it is a duplicate that needs to be removed or the addition of the plot location. I would like all memorials to be the best they can be, and if the original creator has a thousand or more and is to selfish to give them up and can't maintain them or the one memorial that needs to be corrected, I would like to help.

Riehl Family History
Good afternoon,

I'm doing some research on the Riehl line (my mother's maiden name). Gottlieb Riehl and Pauline Schmidt Riehl are my 3x great-grandparents.

I've been searching for information on them from their homeland, likely Volhynia, but there aren't many records from that era/locale. I was wondering how you figured out that they died in Ukraine, and if you had any more information on their deaths or graves around 1895-1897.

Also, have you encountered a place named Janowka or Johannisdorf (same town in different languages) in your research? Any info you can provide would be great! Thanks for cataloguing so many Riehls!

Best regards,

Thank you for the picture of the tomb. I appreciate your help as I can't get to all the sites and a photo adds to the information. Makes it just more than numbers.

Two transfers have been made. Pleas take care of a member of my Bellefontaine Cemetery Family as I hold it very close and do a lot of work there.

Minerva (Zehntbauer) Nelson
Thank you for your edit. As noted in the bio section, she resumed using her maiden name following the death of her second husband, Edwin Nelson, in 1937. The obituary bears this out (see transcript). However, the urn clearly is inscribed with the Nelson surname, so on that basis I have accepted your edit suggestion, even though she hadn't used that name for decades.
