RE: Memorial Transfers
I am no longer going to be working with Find A Grave. You do very good work, and I preferred that you have those.

RE: Emmet Thigpen
Hello Connie,
Thanks for the offer, and for the history of the Thigpen memorials. Although I've lived in Alabama 61 years, all my ancestors are buried elsewhere.
I work a section of a cemetery similar to your method. I enjoy researching the history of the individuals and locating their relatives. I'm not interested in numbers so I spend more time per memorial.

RE: Smilie Cemetery
There are only 5 markers left standing at the cemetery. There are many people buried there with no marker remaining. Information is hard to come by. It will take some time digging in the records at the court house. My home phone is 334-566-3044. My cell number is 334-372-3044 but that will change after I retire at the end of January. My email is

RE: Smilie Cemetery
The information I have could be incorrect. I obtained it from the late Kathlyn Johnson Folmar who obtained it from the late Ruth McPherson Brown who originally compiled it long ago. Many of the markers are gone at Smilie Cemetery. I plan to further research the Smilies when I retire in a few months. I am the GGG grandson of Elizabeth Allen Thompson Smilie by her first husband Allen Thompson. They came to Alabama from Jones County Georgia. Elizabeth's second husband was Col. Robert Smilie who is buried beside her in Smilie Cemetery.

RE: Smilie Cemetery
Hi again Connie..

Great to hear from you... Thanks for the update.. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help (especially genealogically) on the update. I am particularly interested in the descendants of Matthias Snider (Old Salem) Mary Ann Snider Thompson is one of his daughters.

I've been afflicted with this bug for over 30 years, but have decided to go back and redo my files for Matthias's family requiring some form of "proof" for anything added to the database. In the case of Find A Grave entries, I'm having a bit of a conflict. (I don't use the information found in the "blurb" unless it comes from the marker or an obit except in my notes as a "possible research avenue to pursue". Please let me know if you find any "concrete evidence" to help support the information given.

Oh.. I'm at the Super 8 in Troy tonight!!! planning to hit the library tomorrow..

RE: Email Sent
Yes, Connie. I did receive your emails and had no problem reading them. Haven't spent much time on the "Senn" line in the last few weeks, but need to get back to it. Really appreciate your help. Pat Cronin

Smilie Cemetery/Mary Ann Thompson
Thanks Connie.
Glad I didn't "REALLY MISS SOMETHING"... I had been there quite sometime ago... (owners were not home) and looked for some time.. thinking maybe there was another area... This notation I have about her being buried there goes back quite some time.. (I think it's in the Pike county cemetery books from about 20 years ago..)
