Especially interested in linking up the descendants of my great great grandparents, Jonathan Stott, Capt. Gideon Lathrop, John Doulton, William Henry Hubbard, William Skinner, George W. Richardson and Darius Warren Adams.

I am also interested in identifying the final monuments of architects, engineers and builders that practiced in Massachusetts. A start on this list is the virtual cemetery here.

RE: Many thanks for Joseph McA Vance photo
I don't know of any online data base for Pittsfield Cemetery. I had to inquire at the cemetery office (413) 447-7953. FYI I posted pictures for Joseph Colville Vance and Grace Hersey Vance. I also added a memorial for Duncan McArthur Vance who was buried with them.

Capt Gideon Lathrop
Hello

Gideon Lathrop was my husband's 15th cousin 7 times removed on his father's side of the family.
How are you related to him?

Thank you

RE: Skinner Family
I will have to get American Phoenix, I live in northern New Jersey a few minutes from Paterson. Until WW2 Paterson was an industrial powerhouse, and the silk production capitol in America. After WW2 the city declined, and many towns became bedroom communities of NYC. Many people have no idea we use to actually make stuff here, most of it really good stuff. Maybe Paterson should have a statue William Skinner, or at least a plaque.

Skinner Family
I recently listened to an interview of the author who wrote American Phoenix, about William Skinner and the birth of the American silk industry. I mentioned the story to my mother who is a Massachusetts native. To my surprise she remembered the Skinner family, not from Massachusetts, but from Fishers Island, NY off the coast of New London Connecticut. My mother lived there in the early 1950s. I have not read the book, but it sounds inspiring, the type of story America could use about now. Good Luck JH
