I am a member and Director of Plymouth County Genealogists, Inc. (PCGI), and currently President of the Friends of Middleborough Cemeteries, Inc. (FoMC). I have researched my Family History and now really enjoy contributing to the knowledge of all people of the past. My non-family memorials focus on my town of Bridgewater, MA and the neighboring areas.|
[[[[[Accuracy honors your ancestors!]]]]] (Nov 18, 2014): I hate adding this, but.......! Recently I have been finding way too many memorials posted into wrong cemeteries. I am not talking about mistakes, but instead the intentional plopping of memorials into random cemeteries. This weakens the value of this site, and insults the contributions of the thousands of us who research and share. Duplicate memorials are just as bad. The EDIT @ FindaGrave.com address fix these issues quickly, and address the "contributors" too. Please submit all intentionally plopped and duplicated memorials to Edit.
POSTERITY: I publish photos and create memorials here for the benefit of present and future generations. If you want to publish my gravestone photos on any website that you contribute to (except FindaGrave, according to FAQ#142), include in the photo caption "used with the written permission of Chip5610 (#46997557) at FindaGrave" and keep a screen-print of this page for your records. Copyright laws require you to obtain permission to use a photograph, and conditionally - based on your integrity - you have it! Understand that merely attributing credit does not comply with the law.
Building a cemetery index: I invest a lot of time developing and maintaining the cemetery page listings for Southeastern Massachusetts (maps for Plymouth and Bristol and Norfolk counties) and several other counties in the state. I add new cemeteries and I remove "incorrect" cemeteries. I improve existing cemetery pages by adding cemetery photos and the GPS coordinates. To each cemetery description, I add the GR identifiers from the MA Vital Records books and the MACRIS identifier to each Massachusetts cemetery description. MACRIS identifiers are an important first step in protecting a Massachusetts cemetery. Knowing where a cemetery is located is the first step in preserving the cemetery and finding a grave.
Assistance: The structure of the site engenders collaboration. The "Suggest a Correction (SAC)" feature is great, so use it liberally! My e-mail was set-up specifically for FindaGrave matters, so feel free to send as many SACs as you want. This is a great hobby, and I will work with anyone, happily! My only request: Say 'Thank You'!

Your note on accuracy really is appreciated. I've found a number of duplicate records of late on some of my early ancestors. I'm puzzled by one particular contributor who has recorded a number of people with grave sites unknown. Later contributors have entered this same relatives with accurate grave sites. Your suggestions on how to deal with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your efforts.

Thank you so very much for the photo and inscription from our ancestor's grave. Apologies for my very late response but I just now saw the photo. Can't begin to tell you how much this means to me and our Waterman family! ~ Sue

Chip, thank you so very much for filling my photo request for Roy David Le Clair, my uncle, back on Dec. 22! I'd been without a computer for several months & now that I'm up 'n running again, I just discovered your photo tonight. It means the world to me to see the pic you took. My hubby & I attended Roy's wake/burial & I was deeply moved by the Military Funeral Honors ceremony. So beautiful. THANK YOU for all you're doing for all of us!

Thank you for explaining further. It is very important to give full credit where full credit is do.

Chip, I have recently finished developing all of the memorials I recently created in Cemetery on The Green in Middleboro. I was hoping that you would be receptive to a transfer of all those not related to my children (Bennet-Smith-Thomas). Could you please let me know by email. Thanks for all your hard work.

I thought I would let you know that I have been working with Find A Grave as I discover (from transcript) the final resting place of many individuals who Find A Grave members have created "burial unknown" records for. To date 6 very early BU memorials have been merged into the correct burial location memorial, and many more are to come as I progress through
Plymouth/Bristol & Norfolk Counties detail developing the memorials I have recently created. Jim

Hello Chip, I have over 30 photos from these families. firstname.lastname@example.org
|Jo Anne Snow||Thank you.|
I so appreciate the detail and documentation you have provided for so many of my ancestors.
Thank you for the excellent photos you have taken of the cemetery where Samuel Lothrop, my 7th great-grandfather, is buried.I want to make sure I understand the correct procedure for crediting your photographs in the "Moulton and Marston Family Tree" I have on ancestry.com. I see the wording that should be used, but I am unsure about the direction to photograph the screen image for Chip5610. I have heard of capturing screen images but have to learn how to do that. Would I then put that screen image also in the credits for the photos where they are inserted for Samuel Lathrop on the ancestry.com family tree, or just keep the screen image separately for my records. I strongly agree with crediting photographers for their works under copyrights; I am an artist who has published children's illustrations that are under copyright in publications.Best wishes.
I can't seem to email you.
You have the correct picture for my dad, Earl F. Sunderland,Jr. however, M.C.S is not Marilyn Keane. It is Monica Costello Sunderland, his second wife.
