|I started researching my fathers side of the family this year because I have good research on my mothers side but knew nearly nothing about my Boyer relatives.I started taking pics of their gravestones for myself but then Find-A-Grave helped me locate a "lost" relative and so I started returning the favor. I am fascinated by the fact that our history is all around us and I never noticed it before. Once I got over the uneasiness of hanging out in a cemetery as a hobby ,I have been having a blast. I try to find out as much pertinent info as possible on the people whose memorials I post ,using a genealogy site I am a member of.I am reminded over and over again that every grave has a story of a life ,some shorter than others, with the same hopes and dreams, love and sorrows of those still living. It has given me a new respect for my own family history and the history of our country. My main interests are the Boyer Family of Ste Genevieve, Mo.and Prairie du Rocher IL. |
I am in the process of photographing St. Josephs Cemetery in Prairie du Rocher IL. I will try to fulfill all of the photo requests that I can. Unfortunately some of the stones are broken and to old and weathered to read. I will still post these.

So if you're related to Ignatius, then you and I are distant cousins, I think. My family tree comes from Gerard side of the family. Ignatius would have been the son of Desire Gerard, who was the brother of my great-grandfather Louis P Gerard. I have been trying to gather info on Desire and his wife Clothilde Gerard, nee Boyer.
I do have a family tree going at Ancestry.com (charleville-hefferman family tree) and have added the only photo I have of Desire to the tree. I have created a memorial on F-A-G for both of them, whom I think are both buried at St Joseph Cemetery in Prairie de Rocher, so hope you can find their graves there to fulfill my photo request. I have a copy of his obituary as well, on my ancestry.com page for him, which only says he was buried 'at the catholic cemetery' in prairie de rocher. Is St Joseph's the only catholic cemetery in the town?
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
