My interest in genealogy began long before I had the time to do very much with it but I started by gathering information in 1993 from my grandparents. Then my cousin took my information in 2001 and really completed the maternal side of my family tree. That left my paternal side unfinished. My great-grandmother, Bessie Spurgeon Horn, was an avid collector of family obituaries and newspaper articles. I began scanning them into my computer and slowly started making some sense out of the connections. My five children have finally flown the coop and that leaves me time to really get busy with the information I have collected. I appreciate all that people have posted on the various websites on the Internet and have begun to post as many of the obituaries and newspaper articles that my Great-grandma Bessie collected as I can. As most of them are of her cousins and their families, I have even branched out and researched those connections in order to make these valuable resources available to distant family members. Please feel free to "snatch" them from the Internet and use them in any way you want. If a higher resolution copy is needed, just email me and I will be glad to send it to you.

Thanks...and happy hunting!

(PS If you use my photographs and belong to the Horn or Spurgeon family, I would like to hear from you and perhaps compare notes....)

Also, if you ever are looking for another SD grave hit- for a cemetery search field under "Archives' then "for genealogists" then Cemetery records. These mostly are WPA surveys up to about 1940.

I think the alternative spelling would have triggered a closer look on my part, but I could have missed it with that spelling.

Of course, you may use the photos. No credit is needed. It was my pleasure to be able to obtain them for you.

To Becky,

Sorry, has been awhile since I have been on Find a Grave. Wasn't sure if I had responded to your request. Yes. You may use my photo.

Let me know if I can help you in any other way.

RE: Fred White
Sorry my mistake. Maybe it was on one of the other graves there that I saw the White surname as a submitter, or on a photo submitted to one of them. I was trying to do too much on Find A Grave yesterday.

RE: Dorma Grieb
Dorma and Hans (he went by 'Si' his entire life) had two sons, Phillip and Gary. Between the two there are several grandchildren. Phil passed away a few years ago, but his wife is still alive.
I'll email you at your hotmail address and give you the details of their side of the family.

RE: Dorma Grieb
Becky - you may certainly use the photo of Dorma's headstone. Dorma Horn was married to my uncle, Hans Paul 'Si' Grieb. I have a few photos of Dorma' and Si if you're interested and have posted quite a few old photos of various family on Flickr, including the Grieb side of my family. Let me know.
