I am slowly working on photographing Ascension Cemetery because it is closest to my home. I am not related to most of those buried there. I consider it my contribution to the find-a-grave website as a return favor for those who have photographed entire cemeteries far away, greatly helping my own personal family research.|
I've been side-tracked lately with photographing Loma Vista in Fullerton. Done with photographing the Northeast, Cypress and East Lawns in the older part of the cemetery. Currently working on Grandview Lawn. Mostly what I consider "mass production" by sweeping the stones, taking a picture and posting memorials just to get the names out there.

I am a F-A-G volunteer like you are. I am doing this to save you time and disappointment. I would want to be treated this same way.
Sadly, there is absolutely NO cooperation from the San Luis Cemetery with Find A Grave volunteers. I was threatened with the police by the owner of the San Luis Cemetery, just talking to him over the phone.
However, there has been great success with the San Luis Obispo County Genealogical Society. They completed exhaustive photographing of gravestones at San Luis Cemetery.
You can email a request for a photo of the grave stone(s) you are looking by doing the following; and they will respond promptly:
Address your email to
Put in the subject line
San Luis Cemetery Headstone photo
Give them the name and birth and death dates, or as much as you know.
Ask them to send a picture of the headstone, and tell them how you are related or what your interest is in this person.
They will appreciate that. This information may only be used in genealogical research.
They will email you within a day or two with an attached photo(s), if it exists.
I will ask that your request be removed (so others arenít discouraged), now that you have a very reliable and quick way to achieve your goal. If there is any problem, please let me know.
As a reference here is the website for the index for all the burials at San Luis Cemetery through 2010. http://www.slocgs.org/pdf-files/SLO-Cem-Location.pdf

I'm happy to help out Lesa!! I went in search of them a week ago Saturday and couldn't find them for the life of me. I was able to get help this Saturday from one of the wonderful people that work in the office. He went out with his book and showed me exactly where they were!

I am heading to Laredo next spring and am going to try to knock out some of the photo requests. I was wondering if you could try to get the plot number for me as it's a big cemetery. Thanks Lynne

Thank you for transferring. Marcella is my wife's maternal grandmother, and Hank was her beloved step-father. Thanks for your contributions, and devotion to the cause.

Thank you so much for the transfer of Albert Stovall. Much appreciated.
|Nancy Roberts||Albert & Minnie Stovall|
I would appreciate a transfer of Albert and Minnie Stovall #112014548 and #112014546 respectively. These truly wonderful people did something heroic for my family by taking in my cousin, who had tragically lost her parents in a senseless crime. Its a heartwarming story which I would like to add to their memorial. My #48004605. Thank you so much

Thank you! I really wasn't sure. I just knew she died before 1920.
