RE: Andrew Kirk 96022764
Bob I'd be happy to add any biographical info to Andrew's memorial. Please forward the info Through the "suggest a correction" (SAC) on the memorial.

I'm sorry to say that I don't know what the sign by the headstone means.

RE: Angelus E Healy
He very well may have died from the Spanish Influenza while serving in the military. Early outbreaks occurred in highly populated areas and military camps were hit hard.

RE: Angelus E Healy
Records indiate he was a veteran and has a veteran marker by his grave marker. The source I used was "Cattaraugus County, NY Genweb".

James Bruce & Catherine Mann
Something doesn't fit here...look at the Find A Grave pages for both and see if you can unravel...James Bruce is listed as James Bruce Mann.

RE: Mary E. Mann, mother, Catherine
Looks like there is a puzzle waiting to be solved here...if you search for Manns buried in Tuolumne Co there is a reference of Mary Mann being the mother of Adolph Mann (the father being John). In the marriage records book I mentioned earlier, there is a marriage on 3/29/1863 of Catherine Roberts to James A. Bruce (there is a Find A Grave site showing this marker in Tuolumne CO). Another entry shows a marriage on 12/15/1867 of Catherine Bruce to Daniel L. Mann.

Maybe Mary had a child out of wedlock or had a previous marriage?

W.F. Gowie m Mary E. Mann
FYI...In the Tuolumne Co. California Marriages book published in 2009 by the Tuolumne CO Genealogical Society, William F. Gowie married Mary E. Mann on June 22, 1898 in Sonora. (From Book 5 page 235 of original marriage records.)

RE: William T Gowie
I have transferred this distant relative to you for maintenance. Because the cemetery is gone and the graves not marked, it is even more important to maintain records of those buried there. Besides, if I hadn't entered William you might not have found out about him! I'll let you do the connection to son Frank and middle initial and place of birth.

RE: William T Gowie
Forgot to mention...I have not been able to unearth much information on the cemetery in which William was buried. As best as I can determine, it was a pauper's resting place and now there is no evidence it ever existed. The old hospital that was near the cemetery no longer exists and the area is now built with houses and afew office buildings. I have spoken with a local coroner who said he walked the area looking for evidence of grave sites and none could be found. Graves were probably rarely marked, and if so, possible with wooden markers or loose stones that have not survived the ravages of time.
