Bio and Links
Bio Photo My family lineage is through George Steel(e) who settled in Bedford County, PA. That lineage is George, Philip, George, George, Moses, Charles Edward and Paul Victor Steele. My family moved to Holmes Co, Ohio and Moses and many family members migrated to St. Joseph Co, Indiana where most of us have stayed in the general area. I have 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

I am fairly new to deep genealogy but have always wanted to know who my family was.

I am willing to take photos of local cemeteries if requested. I like to take photos of the area where the interment is to give the viewer a little better sense of the tranquility of the cemetery. I am a member of Friends of Silverbrook, the city owned cemetery here in Niles. We do restoration work on many of the headstones at the cemetery. Take some time to visit the website.

Could you add Robert J Ream as a child of Frank and Clarrissa Ream? His FindAGrave number is #49080743.

I am the grand-daughter of Frank's oldest son Paul Frank Ream.

How do you record the cemetery of your ancestors in your personal genealogical records? Current obituaries specifically state Eastlawn or Westlawn, the Dept of Veterans Affairs ( lists EASTLAWN Cem at 200 W Center St North Liberty and WEST LAWN Cemetery at 700 West Center Street North Liberty. The South Bend Area Genealogical Society, in Vol I of Saint Joseph County Cemetery Inscriptions list the two as separate cemeteries. Find a Grave's mission is to find, record and present final disposition information. I know it can be difficult to determine the burial location from older obituaries that do not specifically state Eastlawn or Westlawn and this was complicated by the fact that on Find A Grave (only), Eastlawn was aliased to Westlawn until the fall of 2012. This is not a case where it is difficult to distinguish between the two cemeteries on site. There is very specific, distinct signage at each cemetery. They are separated by at least a half mile with several homes in between. Someone who tries to fulfill a photo request will not have success without knowing which cemetery to visit. I think the only name change in the past was to initiate the name Eastlawn for the original (circa 1850) cemetery in North Liberty. Until the opening of Westlawn sometime in the 1900's, the original cemetery in North Liberty could simply be referred to as the cemetery in North Liberty. I think the name Eastlawn was then given to the older cemetery some time after the opening of Westlawn.

John C. Waterson
Thank you for making the memorial for John C. Waterson #74160053. He was not the son of Roy and Gertrude Waterson. Roy was his brother. Please disconnect him from them. John's father was James Waterson #58305148 and his mother was Eliza Smith Waterson Leonard. #58272775. Thank you. I am in contact with a descendant and she would like to visit the cemetery. Can you tell me where his tombstone is located? Thanks again, Jane from MI
