It really bothers me to see unmarked graves and graves with names but no dates; makes me want to find their families; some I do, some I don't. I wish I had enough money to replace all the monuments that need replaced and add those who don't have a marker! I would happily do so. After being in some of the cemeteries and seeing how many of the monuments are due to environmental conditions, etc; it has encouraged me to photograph and get as much documentation as is there because in future years; at least what is there now will be known and people able to see on findagrave.
Mark Cook a cousin, Jan W Smith, a cousin and I have been working together on our genealogy and others the past few years. Since Jan is in the area he does a lot of photographs and Mark travels once or twice a year to do cemetery photo's also. I have taken many myself as well.
I've been working on our family genealogy for what seems a life time! I started as a youngster with my grandparents, aunts, uncles going to cemeteries taking information and visiting relatives and friends taking information. I am from Washington County, love it and miss it; however, don't like the changes!! But, it is still my home though I don't live there or get home often. I have two sons and two grandchildren and have been able to pass the genealogy "bug" to them and hope they will continue when I am no longer able or around to do so. Mary

|LyndaKaye Curry||Absolam Payne(Not A.E. Payne) & Sophronia Loftin|
Hi Mary, I've just joined & had a little info to hopefully contribute. I noticed that someone had indicated that Absolam E. (A.E.) Payne (1808-1880) & buried at CenterRidge, Dale, AL was married 1st to Sophronia Loftin & 2nd to Eliza Payne Trawick. While we do not know for sure yet who A.E's first wife was, we know that it was not Sophronia Loftin. She was the 1st wife of cousin Absolam Payne (1808-1886) The families are easily found from 1840 onward. After Sophronia's death between 1852-1855, Absolam married 9 May 1855 Maranda Shiver. There are 11 known children from 1st marriage & 7 more from his 2nd.
Meanwhile, Absolam E.(possibly Esby) Payne can be found in Dale County Alabama state census with 4 (probable) sons & 3 (probable) daughters. It is impossible to say for sure as they are not listed in any way other than tallies. A.E. is found in 1860 onward married to my 3rd great grandmother, Eliza Payne Trawick Payne. There are several of us searching tirelessly for the family in 1850 federal census. The A.E. Paynes, Thomas F. Trawicks & several other Dale County families cannot be found in 1850. I have pieced together my best case scenario on Ancestry under Absolam Esby Payne Who He Was & Who He Wasn't, but there is still much to be done. Thanks, LyndaKaye

Mary - I am assuming you entered the info for this cemetery. If so, the location is incorrect. The cemetery is actually located in Green County, Mississippi, very close to the Ala/Miss state line. This reference gives details and GPS coordinates for the cemetery:
If you can, please correct the location for this cemetery - thanks

|John Loper||Loper Family History|
I am the great grandson of William J. Loper, brother of Andrew Loper and son of Richard Loper and Jane Jail Warrick. I am trying to determine the date and cause of death of Richard Loper. His father's will lists Jane as his widow, and she subsequently remarried first to William D. Causey and then to Wiiliam Nash Worsham.
William J. Loper married Emma Elizabeth Mosley Saxon, and their son Joe William Loper was my grandfather. He married Gertrude Clyde Inez Johnson in Clifton, Bosque County, TX, moved to Port Arthur, TX, and they had one son, my father, Joe William Loper Jr. (now deceased). I grew up in San Antonio, TX and now live in Houston, TX.
Richard Loper's brother, Peter Henry Loper, Sr. has a living great grandson that share my same exact name. He is living in Chatom, AL, but does not have any further information on Richardís cause or exact date of death.
Richard Loperís sister was Theodosia A. Loper.
Do you possibly have any further information on Richard Loper?
Sorry I didn't notice before but,Bud is not buried in this cemetery, he is buried at the link below.

|Colleen Stokes||Date change|
William Robert Broadhead is buried in Brightwater Cemetery, AL. The date entered for his death is Sept 13, when in fact the stone reads June 13 and so
does the death record. Would you mind making the correction? thank you
