Bio and Links
Bio Photo Georgia (Decatur, and now Cherokee County) has been home for two thirds (most) of my life. Two sons, three granddaughters, and three grandsons, all of whom are Georgians.
An Amarillo, Texas native (and 10 yr. native of Fort Worth), and seven generations removed from Patrick and Margaret McCullough Phinney of Chester (District)County, SC, dating from 1786.
History at times surpasses genealogy as the greater interest. This site is a compilation of stories from individuals responsible for that history, and it never ceases to improve with each addition.
Paternal Lineage: Phinney, Crosser, Wright, McCullough
Maternal Lineage : Daniel, Newman, Talley, Magee

"Tis but a few whose days amount
To three score and ten
And all beyond that short account
Is sorrow, toil and pain."
(from Nancy Agnes Austen McCreight headstone)

RE: Lucy Winn
The pics are pretty pathetic. I had one heck of a time crawling under bushes to get to the stones. I am trying to get permission to trim back the bushes.

Did it cite a source for that maiden name? I do believe that it is her maiden name but I want sources. : )

RE: Katherine Gunn Leas
One last thing--I took a few more pix of the Leas markers this past week. I thought it would be nice to have some without the rain blotches. Otherwise, I think they're basically the same as before. I'll try to upload them this week.

By the way, I have a photo from the Leas plot that I didn't upload because I couldn't find the listing. The marker is inscribed: F. Marion P. Leas. 1903 -- 1949.

Also, if you google, "residence of Leroy P Leas Overbrook Philadelphia," you will about 8 pages with discussion and photos of his home in Architectural Record, Volume 46 (1919), which you can download for free.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I am glad that her site is maintained by family. I don't know much about her family other than what I had from Clara Buzbee and my grandmother. I do know that I have had people to ask me, but don't know where those names are now. My info is under Duncan Parr on If you have a question, I will try to answer.

Lucy Daniel White
I believe that Lucy Daniel White is kin to David Lewis. Going by what is on Ancestry David,s Parents were Joel Lewis and Lucy Daniels? Lewis. David his wife Polly and 2 Daughters Judith and Mary E.E. Lewis are burried on the property that my Parents bought in 1943. 34 Martin Road, N.W. Rome, Ga. About 1 MILE FROM Pisgah Church. David ,Polly , Mary E.E. Lewis have head stones, Judith does not. I am trying to find someone that knows the date that Judith died so I can put up her a head stone. Judith was still alive in 1900 going by the 1900 census. She was born in 1825. Gaston Martin
