|My wife and I have been doing genealogy research on both of our families since we retired in 1990. |
My lines include (McKay, Cobb, Long, Matney, George, Benefield, Latch). All of my family lines were in the U.S. as far back as I can trace (early 1700's). My sirname migrated from VA to OK via TN, GA, AL, and AR. On my mothers side they migrated from OH to OK via IL and MO.
My wife's lines include:(Skaggs, Gilreath). Her family migrated from KY, SC, and GA to OK. We are willing to share any information we have.
We also take cemetery photos of our family stones as well as for tombstones for cemeteries in our area.

Dear Mr. McKay:
I have received numerous requests in the past month asking that I re-take photos of headstones for memorials originally created by you and/or photographed by you. Each request is punctuated with the frustration that, in order to get a good exposure and detail on the headstone, you have "chalked" the gravestone. I'm merely passing this information on to you that someone, in this case me, is having to go back and re-do your work. Geologically speaking, according to several of my engineering and contractor friends [not to mention genealogy groups and forums], "chalking" a porous headstone is about the worst thing one can do. You're probably aware that many of the old stones here in Texas are composed of limestone - a soft, porous material that, sadly, doesn't stand up well to the ravages of weather and time. I'm merely passing on the complaints of at least 25 folks who've asked me to re-take your pictures and sharing info on the "chalking" issue. No bashing intended in this message. I truly appreciate all you do for FindaGrave.
