Bio Photo My granddaddy was a monument carver, so from an early age I assumed everybody held picnics in cemeteries. My school-friends informed me that this idea was creepy; poor them, they missed out on the architecture, arts & design, landscaping, geology, spelling, math and history lessons I learned from observing gravesites. I also learned to question and double-check data, because even though a stone claims an ancestor died on leap day, it was not a leap year!
I was a proud momma the time I heard my son tell a friend that they couldn't meet to play, because he and his mom were "going to go look for dead people." He is an adult now, and still gladly hikes through rows of stones with his grandma and me, gleaning genealogical hints.
It is recreational for me to search for monuments - good exercise for the body and for the soul!

RE: Simon Peter Pottenger in Chili Comm Cem
Janneane, those are so very nice. Thanks, again, for making the effort. And you're right, these new ones are so much better, so easy to make out. A big improvement. Makes a huge difference! Thanks again.

Hi Janneane, Like the new picture but I don't see anything wrong with leaving the old one on there. I'll leave it up to you but I think it is okay. Thanks for doing the new one. Linda

Amanda and Dorothy Guy
Thanks for all the pictures. It seems Dorothy may have complications from child birth since she died shortly after her daughter. Thanks again. Linda Maret

RE: Henry & Martha Harsh photo requests
Hi Janneane,
I also added another Harsh to Gilead cemetery, according to the Harsh book. I don't think I sent a photo request as I am not sure there is any marker. I did link them as best I could. And added information in the bio area.
I have also been to the Gilead cemetery. If I remember correctly, in the first couple of rows of that section, there are many "blank" areas. I am wondering if there are stones for (possibly) Harsh that may have fallen over and be buried also. Sigh......
I will keep my fingers crossed.
Have a blessed day!

RE: Henry & Martha Harsh photo requests
Hi Janneane,
I see your name often on find-a-grave. Thank you very much for all you do!
I did some research to see where I found my information. I have a copy of a Harsh Family Book and it lists Ellrod, Martha, and Henry all as died in infancy. And are all buried in Gilead Cemetery. I will make a note on their memorials stating that. Christian Harsh (buried there) was their uncle. Thank you for the contact to remind me to look.
Have a blessed day!
