I am trying to assist with data cleansing here on Find A Grave. Please take note of the naming conventions (found in the FAQ):

Memorial Naming Conventions
If a hyphen or an apostrophe is part of the name, use the punctuation.
A period should be used after names where only an initial is known. If the full name is known, use the full name and not the initial.
No other punctuation should be used within any Name Field.
Full capitalization (ALL-CAPS) of names should not be used in any Name Field.
Suffixes and Prefixes do not belong in any Name Field.

First Name
First name of the deceased. Put the entire first name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Middle Name
Middle name of deceased. Put the entire middle name (if known), even if the grave marker is only an initial.

Nickname
Nickname of deceased, if known; the nickname is automatically placed in quotes.

Maiden Name
Maiden name of a married individual, if known (otherwise leave blank); the maiden name is automatically italicized and should only be used if the individual was married and took the spouse's last name as their new last name. If the deceased was never married, then the last name should be placed in the "Last Name" field, NOT in the "Maiden Name" field.

Last Name
Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.

Clean up
Thanks again for cleaning up the memorials. I'm finding a lot of problems with people adding nee XXX within the maiden name text field or putting nee as the middle name. I'm not have much luck trying to explain that it isn't included. I've gotten responses that it's in the obituary or that's how it's engraved on the marker.

RE: Thanks!
You're welcome! I guess I'm OCD! The ones I'm having the most problems with are those with Msgr or Monsignor in the first name text field. (Those should be listed as Prefix Rev First Name xxx and Monsignor listed in the bio area or inscription field.)

The several members who are doing this refuse every SAC I send them, then I have to forward all the declines to Edit.

---
Thanks!
Just wanted to leave a note and say thank you for your help with data cleansing here on Find A Grave! Several times, I have gone to send a SAC, and you were already there before me. There are so many people on this site who don't understand how much clean data affects the search-ability of the site (and will openly attack), but there are also some of us that understand and appreciate your work!
Thanks again!

RE: unknown?
I've never gotten one like that before so I didn't know what it was.

I was in hopes someone would eventually see it and recognize it and supply a name. This is a mixed race cemetery but mostly Hispanic children on the end where this "Little Princess" is buried. Many, many, of them have no recognizable names and only a few have a fitting marker.

V. 'Belle" Chase
I left the 'Belle" as it show on her gravestone. Even though I know her name is Viola Belle Chase her name she when by was Belle.

Jennifer Summers
Thank you so much for the data on Jennifer. When I came across the tombstone with just the name 'Jenny' on it, I had no idea who she was. I have updated the memorial and added the obituary and picture.

Thanks again!

Mrs
The Mrs prefix was added as an option after most of my submissions were made when there was no place except in the given field to place that. Thanks for the cleanup/etc. effort. John

Naming Conventions
ARE YOU AWARE that when you submit an excel spreadsheet of names for acception into a cemetery that you CAN NOT USE ANY PUNCTUATION in any of the fields. There is no field for Prefixes or Suffixes. At least when I submitted my memorials there wasn't. So if you submit a thousand names in a large cemetery, you have to go back and edit every memorial where you needed to use a prefix, suffix or punctuation, like "MR.". "Mrs." is avaiable but "Mr." is not. So when I have a marker that the prefix "MR." is on the marker, then I AM going to put it in the first name field, until they add more prefixes/suffixes.

I was forced to remove the hyphen from my own mothers maiden name two years ago because someone like you threatened to have my memorials removed if I didn't "Conform to find a grave naming convention". Please do not ask me to remove a prefix/suffix from a name field on my memorials, if the prefix is on the marker, until the prefix is added to the list.

You are going to make more enemies than friends with your annoying "cleansing" attempt. Are you authorized by ADMIN to make these requests? If not, either get the authorization and post it on your profile page or STOP BOTHERING US!
