Henes and Manegold families
Hi, Nadeen. I see you are the creator/keeper of many memorials for people buried in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, among them my wife's grandparents Dr. Edwin Henes Jr. and his wife Irma Louise (Manegold) Henes, and a number of their relatives. I'm wondering whether you have any interest in or connection to the Henes and Manegold families, and in particular, whether you know how, if at all, the various Henes families in Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee were related to the Milwaukee Heneses. And if you've heard from any other researchers into the Henes family, I'd love to know how to contact them.

Of course I realize that you may simply have created those memorials without having any personal connection to the people involved. Whether or not they're your relatives, I appreciate your taking the trouble to do that.

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me. Have a wonderful holiday season!

RE: S. Wetherbee
Thank you Nadeen for always being so prompt. He was listed as being buried in Spring Prairie but I accidentally opened all Wetherbees in Wisconsin instead of isolating it to Walworth County and there was S. Wetherbee with the exact same dates. So, I deleted my entry and contacted you. Thanks again.

I'm trying to track down living descendants of Estella (Stella) Ogden Richardson Gonzales and her 1st husband Joseph Richardson. Estella's daughter, Eva Jessie Richardson married a Joshua Hayward Binney, Jr. Their daughter Caryl Eva Binney married John Hollister Hendee (Sr.) Their two sons were John Hollister Hendee, Jr. and Thomas Richardson Hendee. I'd like to eventually transfer management of the Find A Grave memorials you established for Estella (Stella) Ogden Gonzales and her 2nd husband, Mortimer Gonsales, to one of Estella's direct descedants, assuming one of them wants to manage those memorials. :-) I just consider myself a temporary custodian.

Again, thank you for your excellent work in establishing Find A Grave memorials.

Sincerely -

Thomas Richardson Hendee [# 87135234]
Hello again -

While searching for something else, I stumbled upon transcriptions of the newspaper obituary for Thomas Richardson Hendee. Then, I was pleases to find you had established a Find A Grave memorial for him.

Following is the text of the obituary (same text published in 3 different publications):

THOMAS R. HENDEE (1928 - 2014)
Obituary

HENDEE--Thomas Richardson; son of John Hollister and Caryl (Binney) Hendee, a well known audio producer of radio and television commercials for Benton & Bowles passed away of natural causes on August 12, 2014 in Manhattan at age 86. Tom was born in Milwaukee on June 8, 1928. He served in the Army Reserves before attending Williams College and then coming to New York in 1948 to start his career in advertising. His survivors include his nephew, Richardson Hendee (Elizabeth) and their daughters, Holly and Brooke; his nieces Virginia Hendee (Joseph Huetz) and their daughter, Jennifer Serruto; Carolyn Hendee (Carlton Nadelhoffer) and their daughters, Rose, Lila and Teka: and his long-time partner of 35 years and good friend of the last 12, Joseph R. Messina. Mr. Hendee was preceded in death by his dear friend, Ethel Merman. Tom was a fun loving man who always made us laugh. He enjoyed life and being surrounded by good friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Thanks Nadeen, not related, but I don't know what we'd do without you. You do so much for Find a Grave in the south suburbs.

Mortimer and Estella Ogden Gonzales
Hello, Nadeen -

If you don't mind transferring the management of the Find A Grave memorials you established for Mortimer Gonzales and his wife Estella (Stella) Ogden Gonzales, I will be happy to be their custodian until I can find a living descendant of theirs who would like to manage the memorials. I know Estella had a daughter from her 1st marriage. And, I found info that her daughter had a child, but I don't know if anyone is living in that family line. I don't think Mortimer had any children.

Once you have transferred the management of the Find A Grave memorial for Mortimer, I can update his Biography with his military info. It is a bit convoluted as he enlisted in Union regiments 3 different times! With the 1st 2 enlistments he must have been "found out" to be underage and was discharged. Can't blame him for trying, I guess. :-)

I also found more info on Estella Ogden's 1st husband and can add that to a Biography for her.

Again, thank you so much for taking the time to establish the 2 memorials.

Sincerely -

Mortimer Gonzales and Estella Gonzales
Hello -

Note: Sending a copy of this message directly to your email address, too.

Thank you for establishing the Find A Grave memorials for Mortimer Gonzales (# 121026348) and his wife Estella Gonzales (# 121026331.) I am not a direct descendant of theirs. However, I am related to Estella's family line - her father, a John Ogden, was a brother of one of my great-great grandfathers.

I will be posting some additional information about each of them through the Find A Grave Edit feature and just wanted to give you a "heads up."

According to information I have discovered on Mortimer Gonzales, he was a veteran of the War Between the States (Union.) Since you did not include any US military information in his Find A Grave memorial, I am guessing his gravesite has/had no marker indicating his military service. I have sent an email to Forest Home Cemetery staff asking if there is such a marker at his grave.

If you wish, I will be happy to compile a synopsis of his military service and add that information as an Edit. I will only do that, if you would like me to do so.

Again, thank you for your work. I used to live in Milwaukee and drove past Forest Home Cemetery all the time to/from work.

Sincerely -
