Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Brookings, South Dakota, USA.

I was unemployed for a few months in 2009, so I decided to photograph and transcribe the gravestones on the East Side of the Bristol Cemetery at Bristol, Day County, South Dakota, USA. I have many ancestors buried in this well-kept cemetery and have enjoyed many visits there. My dad, Allen Esche, assisted with this project.

In 2015, I photographed and transcribed the stones on the Catholic/West side of Bristol Cemetery. Those names were also uploaded to FAG, and I am adding photos as I have time.

I prefer to retain ownership of the Bristol Cemetery memorials. Please feel free to email me with information you would like added to your ancestor's memorial.

Thank you,
Cheryl

Dear Ancestor,
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and bears a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you.

RE: Sauer
W. Sauer's full name was Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Schwartz) Sauer
Our family records indicate Minnie was born Dec 24, 1868 in Germany and died in 1914 (I believe in South Dakota). (I have come across various spellings for her maiden name, i.e. Schwartz, Swarz, Swartz, etc.)

A. Sauer's full name was Andrew Sauer
Born Sep 1860 in Germany. I believe he died in Jun 1900 in South Dakota.

It appears they were married Sep 26, 1891.

I have found information on the following children born to them:

William Sauer - 1893
Mathilda Louise "Tillie" (Sauer) Huwe - 1894-1962 (my grandmother)
Frederick Andrew Sauer - 1895-1967
Elsie Christine Sauer - 1897-1980
Rose Ann (Sauer) Oleson - 1899-1978

I have no information on the Kruger name.
