Bio and Links
Bio Photo I DO NOT BELIEVE in the family transfer guidelines. If I have created a memorial to a family member of yours or someone who means something special to you, I am more than happy to transfer.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way! I hope in small part I have been able to return the kindness.

“Heaven”
by Patrick Philips
It will be the past
and we’ll live there together.
Not as it was to live
but as it is remembered.
It will be the past.
We’ll all go back together.
Everyone we ever loved,
and lost, and must remember.
It will be the past.
And it will last forever.

RE: Jared Boeman
Great work! And thanks I was at the NY Archives this morning and will look into the Bodies in Transit info. I see I have a few memorials in your Bodies Virtual Cemetery and I'm interested in these records. Best, Cara in BK.

RE: James Gedney
There are two remaining "Gedney" family cemeteries in the area - both in bad shape and one endangered. Although close to each other, they are in different municipalities and are often confused; this older ELEAZOR GEDNEY BURIAL GROUND is entrapped within a US Interstate exit ramp in the Town of Mamaroneck and the other, SOLOMON GEDNEY BURIAL GROUND, is in the Village of Mamaroneck, part of the Town of Rye, located off North Barry Avenue behind F. E. Bellows Elementary School.

The SOLOMON GEDNEY BURIAL GROUND was established by Solomon H. Gedney Sr., 1769-1836, third generation born in the nearby Gedney farmhouse at 734 East Boston Post Road, shamefully demolished in 2012 by Rye Neck School District for a playing field. Solomon was a third great grandson of the founder of the "other" Gedney Cemetery, ELEAZOR GEDNEY BURIAL GROUND, founded by Eleazor Gedney II, 1666-1722, in the Town of Mamaroneck.

The 1740 farmhouse was the last of several important Gedney family properties on vast landholdings east of the Mamaroneck River and north of East Boston Post Road prior to the American Revolution. Together with the once bucolic Eleazor Gedney Burial Ground due north (1205 Mamaroneck Avenue) and now entrapped within the I-95 exit ramp, all were linked by a private drive through the estate, lined with walnut trees, today North Barry Avenue. The drive extended all the way from East Boston Post Road to White Plains Road and Gedney Farms, later becoming Gedney Farm Hotel (a luxury resort hotel burned in 1924), Gedney Farm Country Club (now Westchester Hills Golf Club), and Ridgeway Country Club (defunct).

You can still see the ghost of these connections in Google maps.

I've not seen it in print, but there was a rumored attempt by the US Federal Highway Department to begin reinterment (relocation) proceedings which are purportedly allowed after "x years" of the last interment. A search ensued and the last interment was in the 1940's and later than the local historical societies believed.

The short answer to your question, as witnessed by the recent blase response to the loss of the Gedney Farmhouse, is that there is apparent little local interest in anything "Gedney," even if you still have the surname. There is an excellent PDF spreadsheet of the cemetery by Donald Sutherland and I have entirely and positively identified every named interment. My goal is to better link and clarify all those interred in both cemeteries on Find A Grave.

If you'd like to know even more or have the Sutherland spreadsheet, feel free to contact me offline at the email address of my account.

Appreciatively,
Philip in NYC

RE: Jared Boeman
I'm sorry to say that I don't. There is a bio for him which you can read in the link below. His name is spelled Jared Boorom

http://www.green-wood.com/2015/civil-war-biographies-boettner-broas/

Can I ask you where you found the info on the listings you entered in GreenWood that all say Passing through NY?

Thanks, Cara

Catherine Bell
Just saw the 4 leaf clover with the celtic cross you left--thanks-- I miss Catherine. Catherine has had a few of the relatives join her--there are only a few left from her generation.
Hope all is well with you and your family--we are all doing well.
Catherine's Goddaughter, Kathy
