Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where other cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Green family cemetery
Hi my name is Merrie-Anne and I am helping the Henderson Chapter of DAR, you took a picture or pictures of the Green families, I cannot get in touch with James Butzke, so I thought I would contact you.
I think you did them in 2013, it was call the Jeremiah Marshall Cemetery, James said Marshall Farm and Starville 014..... Can you tell me where that is located, one of the members is related to the Green's. Did he mean for the town of Stark? I would appreciate your help...
Thank you for reading this message.

or you could reply to Jane,

RE: Mary Dixon Carder
Thanks again so very much. I had looked for Mary for a number of years, and as others were, was mis-directed by that old book. Then I decided to think "outside the book" and not only found Mary but her husband Joseph and son William in Canada. So much for Joseph dying 1848 in Foster, RI.!! Those old books are lovely reading material, but so often wrong. Always nice to be able to re-affirm my findings with solid evidence, like a headstone still standing and legible.
Sorry, I didn't know you had been contacted by Vladamar. I had a number of messages as well!
Thanks for allowing me to use your photos. I really appreciate it, as will of course credit you as the photographer!
Heartfelt thanks from the descendents of Mary Dixon Carder..

I read Sophronia's headstone clearly from your photo! Great work.
May I have permission to use their photos on their Ancestry pages? Mary Dixon Carder is my 3rd Great Grandmother. Sophronia would be my 3rd Great Aunt.
Thanks again, Nancy

Thank you so very, very much for this headstone photo. This disproves written books and records about where and when Mary died.
It changes the whole history of the Carder family.
If possible, could you tell me exactly what is written on Mary's headstone? I should have asked for this on her photo request.
Again, Thank you so much, for Mary's, and Sophronia's headstone photos!!
