I am Donna Keener from Preston County, WV. I have been researching my family for about 15 years now. I have over 34,000 names in my database. I am researching Keener's, Ayersman's, Shay's, Wright's, Sidwell's, Squire's, Comb's, Trickett's, Mitter's, Street's, Benson's,
and many others. I have published two cemetery books on Preston County. I have added the material from volume I, which is no longer in print.
I will be happy to enter any links that you are willing to provide to me, or will attach any obituaries that you wish to send to me.
Per Find-a-grave guidelines, "Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Be sure to explain your relationship in the request! Any relatives who are more distantly related to you are not required to be transferred."
When requesting updates or transfers, please use the EDIT TAB on the right hand side of the memorial page so that a direct link to that individual is priovided for the update.
I would encourage anyone researching family members in Preston County to visit the Terra Alta Library. I've been working with them for the last 15 years trying to build their genealogy materials. They have a nice microfilm reader. They have a complete set of film from Preston County's newspapers. They also have partial collections for Taylor County, Barbour County, and Marion County. They have collected obituaries from the Dominion Post and have them indexed and in binders. They also have collected and bound the civil war series that is printed in the Preston County newspapers.

|Karen Rouse||Bertha Gooding and Thomas Wellington McCue|
Donna, Previously I sent you the data on Vernon Gooding from Fairmont, WV and a few pages from my book of his death certificate, cemetery records etc.
I have pages for Bertha Jane Gooding and Thomas Wellington Gooding also with death records etc. Have the newspaper clipping of his death also from the newspaper. He and his wife Elizabeth Frances Neel are not buried in Bluemont Cemetery. They have unmarked graves in the Brown Church Cemetery, Grafton, WV a short distance from where they lived in Fetterman Hollow. Have tin type pictures of them and Elizabeth's sister Nancy Neel.
They had 5 other children besides Bertha Jane McCue. I climbed up the hill with directions from the caretaker and took pictures where there were two unmarked graves with primitive stones. Have letters from some great Cousin that told me where they were buried. My Aunt who will be 98 in Aug.took me up the Hollow and showed me where her mother Sarah Tabithia McCue and her sister Bertha picked blueberries. Road is impassible now back to the Hollow. I can't remember how I got the data to you the last time, but will be glad to email it' Hopefully you still have my email address. PS Sarah had an old Bible and I took pictures of the pages with the birth and death dates of this family when I was in Elkins last summer.
Karen Wagner Rouse
Granddaughter of Bertha McCue Gooding. Do I just leave my email on the leave message page.
