Bio and Links
Bio Photo My sister and I have been photographing all the markers in Oak Grove Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI. I am not related to the majority of them, so feel free to request a transfer if you have a relationship to any that I am managing.

I also give permission for anyone to use the photographs I am posting on findagrave.com. If you want uncropped then email me with surname & date of photo.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the Oak Grove Civil War Cemetery Restoration (Facebook group) for their hard work on uncovering and repairing the grave markers at Oak Grove.

RE: # 81528195 David Patt
Not a problem, bad transcription and no birth record :-)

The Tryphena I though might have been her PATT mother turned out to be the one I gave you born 1826 that m Joseph Billington, her older cousin.

I'm going to try and find out if this Joseph is another brother of those two Billington brothers Daniel and James who died in the Windsor Locks Ct. train disaster. Do you remember that from the NP017 Lymannille Mill cemetery Ken worked on where it was almost all children?

RE: # 81528195 David Patt
If the Patt researcher would like to have it changed, they might send an edit to Carole to have it changed if they wish to do so?

I have given you all the info I have to date and have also requested an edit to Abby Ann's memorial which manager "Story" will likely update when they get the chance.

I hope the additional info to date is helpful to your correspondent.

Thanks so much for helping to sort this out. It simply appears there may have been a bad transcription of the death information for Abby when they listed David Patt as her father.

RE: # 81528195 David Patt
It's the same one I answered before? I did some more digging

Apparently there are two sets of death transcriptions, one saying her father was David Patt and one saying David. Both say mother Tryphena or Tryphena Westgate, Find A Grave Memorial# 109804272

It's possible Abby is an unrecorded daughter of David Westgate and his wife Tryphena of Freetown MA.The children were only recorded starting in 1843, but they appear to have 4 daughters in the 1840 census.

This one is likely the daughter of Nathaniel Westgate and Desire:

Tryphne Westgate mentioned in the record of Joseph Billington and Tryphne Westgate Name Joseph Billington Spouse's Name Tryphne Westgate
Event Date 16 Feb 1845
Event Place Smithfield Twp,Providence,Rhode Island

In 1850 census David and Tryphena had no unmarried daughter Abby with them in Freetown.

A bunch of these Westgate's moved to the Smithfield Pawtucket and North Providence area before 1850, but I only found 2 Abbys in 1850 and I thought had accounted for them:

Maybe it's this one?
Abbey Westgate United States Census, 1850
Name Abbey Westgate Event Type Census
Event Year 1850 Event Place North Providence, Providence, Rhode Island, United States Gender Female Age 11 Race White
Birth Year (Estimated) 1839 Birthplace Massachusetts House Number 747
HOUSEHOLD ROLE GENDER AGE BIRTHPLACE
Horace Aldrich M 23 New Hampshire
Desire Aldrich F 20 Massachusetts
Abbey Westgate F 11 Massachusetts
John Westgate M 23 Massachusetts
Frances Westgate F 19 Massachusetts

These Westgates are the children of Nathaniel Westgate and Desire, even though they all show in William Harris home:

Thank you so much for that information. I've made the corrections and accepted the changes. I wonder how I made that mistake at all. I'm from Providence, and I've never even heard of Oak Grove cemetery. If I ever go back to Providence again, I will have to check out that cemetery.
All the best. I really appreciate those edits.
Yours,
Ava

Sorry for the delayed response. (Been busy with work) Thank you for the thought! Mary Etta is a fourth cousin so I don't qualify for the transfer unless you prefer not to maintain it. Thanks again Jo-Ann!

This kind of dovetails with the Hannah Harris Richard Aldrich discovery research a while back. I can't remember if that was yours but I'm pretty sure it was? The one where the book was scanned but part of the page was missing, IIRC. But it was really neat work whoever it was.

Just love how all the volunteers are connecting these all up and learning the stories of the families when these cemeteries are being recovered!
