New System for Memorial Edits deployed by FindAGrave on 12/5/2013
Go to your Contributor/Profile page. Look in the upper right corner. You should now see a tab called "Edits." Check there to see if any recommendations that have been submitted to you. Review the suggestion and accept it. If you cannot confirm the information then you have the option to decline the suggestion.
This is more accurate for doing updates to names/dates/places/plot numbers/links. If the manager hasn't reviewed the suggestion within 21 days the program will automatically accept the information.

~A Poem for our Ancestors~
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

The uncle to this John R. Scott is probably this one
His name was James Patterson Scott and he was the son of John Scott and Martha W. Patterson, and the grandson of Hugh Scott. Check it out and see what you think. If you find the parents let me know.
He married Margaret Samples

They were buried two graves from her's.
I don't think I mentioned that the one McNeil you couple you had a request for was buried next to Bela Lugosi. I got the two you have up and will get them friday. Hope you are doing well. James
They are buried next to the other McNeil's.
Hey Jane, I claimed all your requests. I plan to go Tuesday if it does not rain. Please let me know any future requests you have. I'd love to get them for you. Hugs, James

obits either give you a death date or tell what day in the week the person died. when I add an obit I put in the caption the newspaper and date. from that I determine date. I also get it from ancestry trees; I share my sister's subscription. when looking people up on the newspaper sites, you have to be crafty sort of to get the hits you want, like include a year with the name, put two words in quotes, i.e., if looking for John smith, put "john smith" in the search box or you will get johns and smiths.
in the nnyln.org site you can pick county and type of searches such as phrase or words within 5 or 10 words within each other. in the end you need to understand your search results relay on the quality of the digital image, or looking Mary Jones, you may not find her because her obit heading may be Mrs. John Jones and they give her maiden name maybe in the obit. its a game in a way.
