Bio Photo I live in Los Angeles, CA.

I will transfer NON-family memorials according to Find-A-Grave rules.

I will be more than happy to update memorials. I am not always able to make updates daily but I do get to them, usually within a few days unless I am out of town.

You may copy my photos.

~A Poem for our Ancestors~
Your tombstone stands among the rest
Neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished marble stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood and bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so
I wonder if you lived and loved
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot
And come to visit you

RE: Fred William Boswell
I appreciate your kind reply and wanted to thank you and also (briefly) share the story of how the confusion came to light.
Fredie's brother, Harley, remembers the story about a little boy that his dad and Erma had but that he died.
The story goes that Erma was walking in town with her husband Fred and young son (Fred). Erma yanked on the boy's arm causing him to fall and hit his head. He died because of the injury.
The couple divorced, he remarried and named his next son Fred. This has been a long, on going mystery. Many thanks to you for making me have to really look hard at it again. And happy to hear from Harley, 86 years old now.

Clay
Hoogstad at Sunnyside Cem
I will shortly be posting photos for the Hoogstad graves. Unfortunately, none of them have stones.

In 2014, I performed a complete photo survey of both the Holly and NE Magnolia sections. There were no Hoogstad markers in that survey. In today's visit, I verified that there were no markers at the specified graves (including probing the grave to ensure a stone was not buried). I took area photos and will post those photos. See captions for more information.

Although Abraham and John reside in different sections, their graves are actually only about 15 feet apart. Their parents graves are about 200 feet away.

RE: Hinrichs and Hoogstag
Hi, again. I got to the manager of SS and this is what he just sent me. If you create memorials for everyone, a fellow named Clay will get the photos in a few days. Some extra info you might find helpful.
So this will be Sunnyside Cemetery - Long Beach.

Charles, Someone else is looking for these folks but they gave me a different spelling so did not put them together until your email. They are here. There info is as follows; Bastiaan was born 3/24/1885 and died 8/20/1975 he was interred on 8/25/1975 in NE Magnolia Plot 81 Grave 4. Arendge was Born 7/15/1891 and died 8/5/1945 and is buried in the same plot. Just for fun I have two more persons with that surname here and only know that one was buried here on 6/4/1923 and is buried in Holly Section Plot 48 grave 4 and he went by the name of Abraham Hoogstad which looks to be their child who died at 6 months old from diphtheria. The grave was purchased by Bastiaan. The last one may not be related but will give it anyway, John Hoogstad was born 11/22/1908 and died at 42 on 9/12/1951. The deed was to a Mrs. Ethel E Hoogstad and he is buried in Primrose Section Lot 14 Grave A. Hope all of this info is helpful to the family.

RE: Hinrichs and Hoogstag
Hey, it's part of the service! You're very welcome. I just wrote to the guru at Sunnyside about the Hoogstads. All Souls is right across the street from FLLB - if anybody was Catholic. I was happy to find Gertrude and went by birthdates as to whether it was her or not. Seems it is. The stone for Hans will again be encrusted with minerals from the irrigation water (reclaimed). The metal markers get gunked up, too. But you can still read them without cleaning the stuff off. OK - - happy hunting!

RE: Hans Hinrichs
Yep. The spaghetti hit the fan in 1978, though the Mausoleum is still called Sunnyside, and locals refer to the entire place as such. Many of the old records (site maps, etc.) still don't have the name change. Have the photo soon. Best - cb

May
Jane,
I did find that he was married to Gertrude Sabel as his second wife in 1946. If the notice the obituary on his memorial, it lists his wife as Gertrude S. May.

I've requested pictures on Find A Grave. Someone will get a picture for me.
Thanks,
Sharon
