Bio and Links
Bio Photo It is my goal to photograph and record all cemeteries in Barnardsville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. Most of these cemeteries contain my husband's kinfolk. What I've noticed while doing family research on my husband's line is that about everyone from Barnardsville in one way or another is kin to my husband. That's made it very interesting and on going. Or should I say on and on and on going! Oh well, that's what family roots is all about.....adding more and more people to your family tree. :)
I've been researching my husband/my line for about 10 or so years now. It's so thrilling to connect someone to my husband's/my family tree. But what makes it really exciting is finding pictures to add to my research....Be it of the person or their tombstone. The pictures are like evidence proving they did/do exist! And there's no doubt about the info. you collected when it matches up with the info. you've found on the their tombstones (birth/death dates). Sometimes grave markers provide genealogical information not found in other sources!

Waitsel Eafrome Ledford
Hi there Christine!
I was excited to see your messages this morning. I was beginning to think that you had become inactive on Find A Grave. Thank you for verifying what I thought to be true about Bertha Cordelia Ledford. I don't want to veer off course, so I appreciate you telling me. I'm very happy to have Waitsel in my care and also wish to convey my gratitude for the transfer.
My apologies about the spelling of Burleson/Burlison Cemetery. I just came from one in the woods within Yancey County the other day and I noticed the same thing there. Someone at the Census Bureau either began to misspell the Burleson name, or one of the family members gave the wrong spelling on a document, like a birth certificate, draft registration etc., and it stuck. Then once the family name began to be spelled differently, it just snowballed from there.
Waitsel is an unusual name, which can sometimes be a blessing or it could be a curse. Sometimes those old folks named their children well with names that you could be proud of, while other times they were hated. I have an ancestor on my mother's side that despised his birth name so bad, he had the courts change it when he grew up. His name was Wesley, but he wasn't going to have any part of that name. My wife's side is where the relation to Waitsel comes in. Thanks again.

Christine,
I have transferred a memorial to you that is a duplicate of yours. Yours is older than mine, so it is the one that stays up. Please add my dates and such to your memorial, including the family links; then we can delete my memorial. Sorry about that, but I had him in the Burleson Family Cemetery. By the way, the spelling on the Ledford Burleson Cem. is wrong...it should be Burleson not Burlison. You have to ask for the change in the cemetery forum.
Thanks and let me know when you get everything switched over.

Thank you for the transfer offer, but no need. I'm not related to this family.

Best regards,
CJ

I made a memorial for Zeb's wife Ollie J. McKinney Hensley if you want to add the photo of her headstone. Thanks.

Jacob Byler
I was wondering if you might know anything about Jacob as you have him listed as born in 1742 but his grave looks like it says 1737. I was also wondering if you might know what it says on the tombstone, my eyes aren't that great and I can't read what it says.

Thanks for the pic of his grave. He is my 6 x great gram'pa.

Kathleen
