I so enjoy getting to walk around cemeteries and take pictures of grave markers. I also love that FAG exists and gives everyone a place to "remember" their loved ones. |
With that said, I recently found that a FAG contributor requested moving flowers (or images) not be posted to "her" memorials because "I think you would agree that your gesture is about respect for the dead, and not a competition of who can find the most distracting jpeg." I am quite disgusted by that comment. As far as I am concerned, even if I did create a memorial, it is not "my" memorial. A family member or friend should be able to leave any tribute they see fit on their loved ones memorial, as I am not to judge what is appropriate for someone else.
REMEMBER: Find A Grave is a wonderful place to find family and friends who have left us and every memorial we contribute adds more value (and love) to the site. Refusing to transfer a memorial to a family member is just plain rude and selfish; not to mention against FAG's policies for a direct line family member. If you don't want to "play" by the rules, leave.
With the exception of my own personal family photos, photos I post can be used by others for their personal, private and/or non-commercial use. If you want to post them to Ancestry or similar site, please respect my efforts. Do NOT copy my photos to ancestry.com or similar site without giving me credit. Simply copy and paste:

See, I told you I would be wrong again ...
Johnny Mack Brown was Edward's son, not his brother. I read the obit wrong. Johnny Mack lived in Dickinson. Since Winnie had already died maybe Edward was forced to live with his son in Dickinson.
But he was buried next to his wife near Cushing where they had lived.

Edward F. Brown was listed in the Tuscaloosa County census records with his parents, Floyd Brown and Sallie V. Moore. Children of Floyd and Sallie are Edgar Harrison, Lulu Bell, Mary, Edward F. and Sarah Mae. Floyd died in April 1930 and Annie in 1934 and I have not found any other children's records.
The sisters listed in Edward's obit match the sisters listed in Edgar Harrison Brown's obit in his memorial, # 74981664.
His marriage to Winnie Bell Darden is listed in the Tuscaloosa county records from the county website at http://recordroom.tuscco.com/recordroom/Default.aspx.
I know the obit says he has a brother, Johnny Mack Brown living in Dickinson so I suspect he was visiting his brother when he died. I am not sure where Johnny Mack Brown was in the census records unless he was born shortly after his father died and he was enumerated with someone else in the 1940 census. The siblings are living next to each other in Northport in 1940.
The one error I see in the obit is that they say the Redland cemetery is in Dickinson and not in Douglass. There is no Red Land or Redland cemetery in Galveston County or near Dickinson.
I have certainly been wrong before and may be wrong here but there is a lot of coincidences.
What do you think?
