I am related but very distant. I see you added a photo and note regarding what was found. I will check to see if I can find any names of living relatives

Dear Friends...regarding Mr Whiteman's Purple Heart, first this medal, CAN BE SOLD to second parties...sad but true...and also SAD, is that family or estate people, more than likely found this among Mr Whiteman's treasures and sold this or donated it, along with other things to Goodwill.
My daughter sent the same notice to us because my husband received the DSC, second highest award, the MOH being highest. These two (MOH & DSC) are not allowed, they are to be donated, not sold, to a museum or returned to the Gov. On behalf of my husband, who has received a Purple Heart and DSC along with several other awards, for his service in Viet Nam, Thank you for the posting of it being rescued at Goodwill, and the time it took to locate family, and return it. If a family member cannot be found it could be donated to "Purple Heart Socity"...DJ Baker

Are you a family member? I ask because I just saw a FaceBook post about his Purple Heart medal being found at Goodwill. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1253720444644726&set=a.716004658416310.1073741826.100000203482245&type=3&theater

I saw the post on Facebook last night and found a relative within 5 minutes. I sent him a message but haven't heard back. I also sent a message to the person who found it.
I am glad you were able to make a connection and get it taken care of.
It is actually illegal to sell Purple Hearts, but thank goodness Goodwill didn't realize that.
Thanks for your good work and caring heart.

No, he is not a relative of my line. I just wanted to help because it was the right thing to do.

I, too, am trying to find relatives of Eual Whiteman to return his medal...Kathy Brown

Have you found a family member to accept his Purple Heart? Hundreds of people have been sharing the post to find a family member. I have contacted a few family members. One declined and another hasn't answered. I also messaged the woman who rescued the Purple Heart from Goodwill and she hasn't answered either.
There hasn't been any activity on Eual's findagrave until recently. It appears that you've spoken to Richard Whiteman. Is he a relative? How is he related? Is he going to accept it?
I am getting so many fb notifications about people still sharing, people making suggestions, and others wanting to know if we found a family member.
Please let me know if you've found out anything so I can update people.
