Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am an avid genealogist concentrating primarily upon the Kirby surname and whomever the females in that family married. I have worked from my immediate family back to Richard Kirby and Sarah Small from Tennessee and am now working forward from each of their children to the present, a daunting task as my ancestors tended to be very prolific!

My interest in cemeteries started right before I was supposed to retire from the Air Force in 2001 when I took my father to Scottsboro, Alabama to see where his father and grandfather were from and visit his great grandfather's grave. The cemetery where his great grandfather is buried was neglected and in very sad condition. We decided we'd go back there armed with a lawn mower and weedeater and take care of that cemetery at the next opportunity. 9/11 happened so I didn't get out of the Air Force when planned and then one thing after another kept us from going back. Last summer we had planned to revisit the cemetery and do what we could to preserve it. Daddy's health didn't allow us to do that and his death this past September ensured that the two of us would never be able to. I understand now that it may be too late to help that cemetery as loggers have pretty much destroyed it completely. That is very sad considering how long those tombstones had been around (all early and mid 1800's many had even withstood a war) and I am even more grateful for the pictures of them I took when daddy and I were there. Now I'm taking pictures of tombstones for two reasons, one being the obvious, searching for data on ancestors and two being the preservation of history.

Feel free to download any gravestone pictures I have taken and posted.

Please before asking for a transfer make sure you have reviewed the FAG policies on transfers! You can add pictures without a transfer. You can request edits and link creations under the "edit" tab. Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be your siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The majority of folks I have added to FAG are actually related to me the exception to that are memorials in the Checotah, Greenlawn Cemetery and a great many of them are related as well. Outside of Greenlawn Cemetery if I have added them then they are related to me.

My major research interests are the surnames Kirby, Hamm, Ritchie, Parker, Rogers, Dearmore, Butler, Casey, Miller, Giles.

Hello again, Mary. I am so pleased to see the memorials that you have created for my family. I have several Stanphills in my family that married Fredericks. My G Grandfather is Joshua Easterly Frederick and Elizabeth Davis. Their daughter, and my Great Aunt is Lassie Adeline Frederick. My GG Grandfather is James Stanphill, and his son is James Riley Stanphill who would be my Great Uncle. Please transfer these memorials to me. I will be forever grateful, and I will do a very good job at preserving their legacy. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. God Bless You, Bev

Etta M. Rea Dawson in Silver Star Cemetery in Silver Star, Montana
Hi Mary,

I looked at my notes and found Etta M. Rea Dawson was listed in the Silver Star Cemetery listing. Her death date was entered as 19??.

I did not delete her memorial page. I did, however, include an embedded link in my memorial page to your memorial page for Mary Etta Rea Dawson. If I delete the one I entered, someone will re-enter it -- her name is engraved on the gravestone she shares with her husband, Orle H. Dawson.

Are you a Dawson descendant??? If you are not related, would you please consider transferring your memorial page for Mary Etta Rea Dawson to me??? That way, I would have both of her memorial pages.

If you are a Dawson descendant, maybe we could help each other "fill in a few blanks."

Thank you for all you do on

Keep diggin'

Jefferson Davis Lemley FAG # 43810634
Mary, you took the photo of his grave. If you get out there again could you look for his son Jimmy's grave. His application for military headstone DD1330 says he is buried there. Jimmy was a Army Sgt who died in Vietnam.

Hortense Jenkins Coffey
Mary, what makes you think Hortense is in Cedar Hill? I have photographed the entire cemetery and have not found her or John. I did not see her on the list from Frazier Cemetery. I have her photo and She Is my husband's great grandmother's sister. I linked the rest of the family.
