My step mother started taking me to the cemetery when I was a teenager. All her family came from Patrick Co., Virginia, so they are buried up around Dry Pond or Holt Ridge. I've always loved history and found there was so much of it here in the cemetery. |
My family names are:
Needham (Surry Co. NC),
Adams (Patrick Co. VA & Surry Co. NC),
Hunter (Surry Co. NC)
Wear (Blount Co. TN, Cherokee Co. AL, Bradley Co. AR, Bexar Co. TX )
Grant & Walker (SC to Habersham Co. GA)
Bowles (Green Co. GA)
Munson, Watts,Patton, Patty, Padier,Goins. (La, OK, Ato Co. TX Bexar Co. TX)
Holt, Goings, Goins, Bowman, Frye........
and many others that I do for friends and family. I have found wonderful cousins I never new I had.
I am currently working on the families of Gonzales CO. TX. Am also working on the Hillside cemetery in Cuero Dewitt Co. TX and other cemeteries in Dewitt Co.
I've been adding the census records more for my benefit but also for those looking for family members. With so many families to research it helps to keep them straight in my head.
I live in Gonzales TX and I am documenting the City Cemeteries here in town. If you have any information on people buried here I would love to add it. I will be happy to transfer any of your family over to you or take pictures for you. I'm not picky about how close a kin they were. Just that you maintain them.
I'm in Surry Co. NC and Patrick Co. VA once a year and will be happy to look for headstones for anyone while I'm up there. I also have the cemetery book for Patrick Co. VA, and the Surry Co. NC Heritage book 1 & 2 and the History of Gonzales Co. book.
Feel free to use any of my pictures. They are there for all to share.

Have transferred Mary Ruth Needham Stephens Murray to you. She was also married to a Robert Jackson Murray, but have no idea where he is buried. There is one on Find A Grave in Missouri, but unsure if that is him or not.

So sorry Cindy. I was WRONG! I confused her with her mother. I will send correction edits. Sorry to have bothered you. Leonard

Was too cold to go to Surry today, so decided to do a few here in GBO. Glad I could help. Also took one of Carlie Needham too.

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Thank you for transferring Ada Botts to me. I'd appreciate a transfer of her first husband who was my great grandfather. Robert L Hale # 74854162

I completed your photo request for Zilmon Booth and Augusta Boothe. He is with his wife Augusta and their daughter Mary Frances. There was no memorial for Mary Frances, so I created one and transferred it to you. I also photographed the marker of Zilmon and Augusta's son Zilmon Jr. and his wife Cleo. They are in a different section. There was no memorial for Cleo so I created one and transferred it to you.
P.S. My wife is a Munson, but her people came from England....it appears your Munsons were German. If not, check for the Munson Record ....it is a two volume record of Thomas Munson's family from circa 1550 to 1885. You might bump into someone your related to.

thanks Cindy. I plane to visit the cemetery and Gonzales records in the spring. Winter has definitely made a statement in Conroe.
Thanks so much for creating the memorial for:
Dr. Winston Jones Davie, II, #107070503, and his son,
Montgomery Winston Davie, #107070449.
I really didn't know where they were buried until your posts.
I have done extensive research on my grandmother's "Davie" side. Winston's wife was Agatha Nancy Brewer Davie (1868 - 1945) #138704016, and I have connected her to his memorial.
I would like to request that you transfer management to me for these two memorials. It would mean a great deal to me.

I am sure we will see each other. There was a couple here in SA out catching a headstone the day I was at the same cemetery. They had paper in hand, look of "where can the headstone be" so I walked over and introduced myself. I was at Ft Sam a long time ago and, again, I had a gut feeling about another person walking among the headstones but was too shy then. Sent a msg to her and sure enough It was who I thought it was. We are in a light blue Equinox. Cowboy sticker on back window. On a cold day you can't miss me. I wear a neon yellow jacket. If I ever fall and need help.....they can spot me..lol.
