Bio and Links
Bio Photo Finding the graves of ancestors can be an overwhelming challenge. What started out years ago as an innocent quest to find the graves of my grandparents has become my passion. Vacations often end up with side trips to libraries or cemeteries, camera in hand, documenting the final resting place of my ancestors and special people. It is my contribution to others who share the special connection to those who are gone, but not forgotten.

THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY Thelma Greene Reagan

Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.

Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.

Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.

Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.

Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.

Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.

Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Hello, I entered Mrs. Clinkscales memorial and noted later that you had also entered a memorial with a higher number. I live a few miles from Jackson Memorial Gardens and maintain numerous memorials there for both family and close friends. Please advise, William Carson #47628920

You have her listed as a daughter of Burrell Higdon and Nancy Roberts. Can you share any documentation you found for her parents, and particularly for Nancy's surname? Burrell and Nancy are my 4g-grandparents. Thanks. Virginia

Sara Reder Cushman, memorial 12508965
There are some oversights in the biography of Sarah Reder or Reader.

There is no known birth date or place for Sara. Probably Kent, England but no record found.
There are conflicting birthplaces shown. Kent and Netherlands?

She probably only had one child, Thomas. His baptism was recorded in Canterbury, Kent. There is no record or proof that the Sara and Robert had other children.
There is no evidence that Robert Cushman was a “Deacon”.
Sara had at least two brothers, Thomas and Hilkiah (Helkias) Reader or Reder who were associated with Robert Cushman before and after his 1606 marriage to Sara in Canterbury, Kent.

“The 31st of July 1606 were married Robert Cushman, unto Sara Reder dwelling with in precincte of Christchurche”
Source: Canterbury, St. Alphege Church, composite parish register, CMB 1558-1653, CCA-U3-8/1/A, 1558-1812, Canterbury Cathedral Archives

I think it is important to include only known historical information so as not to mislead descendants and others. Respectfully submitted.

Best wishes,

Mike Paulick

David Nym McCullough Jr
For some reason, I keep getting an error message when trying to send you an SAC on Memorial# 7780088. So I am copying my message here.

Due to an error in the Oakland transcription book giving a different burial location for him, I accidentally duped this memorial. I have deleted my entry, but wanted to give you the obituary transcriptions I had on my memorial for him:

January 8, 1898, Constitution
The Infant of Councilman McCullough died about 4 o'clock this morning.

January 9, 1898, Constitution
Infant Dies Very Suddenly
Son of Mr. D. N. McCullough Passed Away Yesterday

D. N. McCullough, Jr., the ten-months-old child of Mr. and Mrs. D. N. McCullough, died yesterday morning at the home of its parents, 85 Luckie street, after a very brief illness. It was not thought that the illness of the child was very serious and the death is a sad blow to the parents.

The friends of Mr. and Mrs. McCullough will be grieved to learn of their sad bereavement. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the residence and the interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
