I'm a preservationist and historian descended from many generations in Texas.

I was so happy to find some "lost" ancestors through Find A Grave. I joined the Find A Grave community as a volunteer, to help other people find where their ancestors and loved ones are buried, and to see photographs of markers in cemeteries they will never be able to visit personally. So many wonderful, dedicated people have volunteered time and money to make this website a success. I am disappointed it is now owned by a for-profit company, using the time and efforts of numerous volunteers.

Please give credit to the volunteers who have created memorials, and ask permission to use photographs. I will be happy to add information to memorials, with proper documentation, and to transfer memorials, following the guidelines of Find A Grave.

Regrettably, due to recent hateful messages, I have changed my contributor name to an anonymous pseudonym. As a serious researcher, I thank all of you who are kind, generous, and working relentlessly to make Find A Grave an incredible resource.

Greetings, I recently offered some edits for the subject Memorial# 37700475. One of those edits offered for her birth date is Nov. 9, 1873 while the headstone clearly has 1875. The edit is based upon the PA death certificate informed by her husband Elwyn Arthur Gillan. Just wanted you to have the source of the edit which is different than the headstone. Regards, Keith

Dr Benjamin Billings Coit #151510538

Please note: The source of the bio included on this memorial is in error-

The parents of Benjamin Billings Coit were Benjamin and Sarah (Coit) Coit. His mother, Sarah was the daughter of William and Sarah (Lathrop) Coit of Norwich, Conn.

about John Jordan(1775-1851)
Who were his children did John Jordan have a child named Reuben J Jordan (1801-1876) or not because the Reuben J Jordan I'm talking was buried in Georgia specifically in Jordan Cemetery Banks County, GA and the reuben was supposedly born in North Carolina. So do i have the right parents of Reuben J Jordan or not.

CSA Co H 38th Mississippi Virtual Cemetery
My great grandfather was in Co H 38th Mississippi and died in 1864 near Edwards Depot. If you would like to add his memorial to your virtual cemetery it would please me a lot as we do not know where he was buried, more than likely where he dropped. His Find A Grave #125289821
If he is in your cemetery he will not be alone.

RE: Elliott C Tuttle
p.164 of Alva Tuttle's book, Tuttle-Tuthill Lines In America, gives a death date of 23 Sep 1865, b. c1836 Greene Co, PA, Private in 2nd Colorado Cavalry, buried Fort Leavenworth Cemetery.

I realize his being born in Pennsylvania seems strange that he would have served in the Colorado Cavalry.

I wonder if the 4-sided gravestone shown in Greene Co, PA (#84730214) was prepared by his parents, who are also buried there, in preparation for their burials and in anticipation of Elliott's burial. I think the parents were still living when Elliott died, but I have not found them on any other Census after 1860. The photo of the old stone is impossible to read as to whether it actually shows a birth and a death date.

He apparently moved around a bit and was living in Iowa in 1856 per that year's state census. I suppose it is possible he moved further west and was in Colorado when he supposedly served in their cavalry:
1856 Iowa State Census
Name: Elliad C Tuttle [Elliot C Tuttle]
Age: 20
Birth Year: abt 1836
Birth Place: Pennsylvania
Residence Date: 1856
Residence Place: Union, Madison, Iowa, USA
Gender: Male
Household Members:
Name Age
Elliad C Tuttle 20, m, b-PA
William F Townsend 28, m, b-KY
Elizabeth Townsend 30, f, b-PA
R Thomas Townsend 1, m, b-IN

All food for thought. Do you have anything definitive that proves he did not serve in the Colorado Cavalry?

I am really torn as to whether he is buried in Pennsylvania or in Leavenworth, Kansas.

I have added the obituary you provided to his memorial page. Would you have any information leading to his exact burial location?

Also, if you are interested, I can transfer the memorial to you.
