Bio and Links
I am a Roman Catholic priest currently serving as the pastor of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, Tennessee. I was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, attended Notre Dame High School there, graduated from St. Meinrad Seminary College in St. Meinrad, IN, in 1977. I started graduate studies in Rome, Italy at the Gregorianum University and completed studies at the Catholic University of America. I received my Doctor of Ministry in Homiletics for the Aquinas Insititute of Theology on the Campus of St. Louis University in 2011. I have been "digging up relatives" since 1973.

Father,

Would you please transfer Laura Harrington Johnson to me. She is my family.

Thank you for your consideration.

RE: Margaret Reilly Mulvihill
Many, many thanks, Fr. Ed! Ms. Baltz might be my best starting point, because she might be able to find John Riley (Junior) as well as helping me with his mother, my gr-gr-grandmother Nancy Riley. Nancy moved to Nashville to live with a daughter after she was widowed. They lived at 1114 Laurel Avenue, so they probably attended a parish church rather than the Cathedral.

Anyway, thanks for volunteering with Find-a-Grave and thanks for your help with my wayward Rileys! :-)

RE: Margaret Reilly Mulvihill
Great! Thanks so much, Fr. Ed. I never knew Maggie Mulvihill but she was my grandfather's cousin (their fathers were brothers). I won't request administration of her memorial in case one of her descendants wants to manage it.

I didn't realize the Cathedral records couldn't be published. Do you know if the Diocese has old records from the Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged? I'm trying to track down another Riley great-great-uncle (John Riley) who was living in the Home in the 1940 Census (age 69). There are several John Rileys interred in Calvary but I don't know which one he is. I haven't been able to find a death record from the state for him, so I thought if there were still records from the Home, they might shed some light on his date of death.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Margaret Reilly Mulvihill
Fr. Steiner, would you mind linking Margaret Reilly Mulvihill to her parents? They are also buried in Calvary along with many of her sibs. Her father was James Francis Riley (#111534238) and her mother was Margaret "Maggie" Cahill Riley (#111534194).

Also, has anyone ever indexed the baptismal/confirmation/wedding/funeral records at the Cathedral?

Many thanks,

Mary Reagan

Hi Rev. Steiner,
Thank you for getting her parents. Your search and knowledge for this family is very much appreciated. I will update the info.

RE: middle name. There seems to be no concensus for his middle name. Lewis vs Lawson. The 1870 census lists his name as Lawson.
I did spruce up his memorial with his Civil War record.
All the best, Debra
