|I have long, long connections with Wilkes County, NC. I grew up in upper Virginia, the D.C. area to be exact, and would visit here from time to time with my dad, who was born in Wilkes County. In 1967, we moved to CA and I married in 1970 and moved to Oregon where I lived until 2000. At that time, I moved back to CA to help with my parents. Each year, we would visit during late September/early October for family reunions and about two years ago, daddy and mother were getting tired of things in CA in the Bay Area and started thinking about moving. We looked at property in Wilkes County and last September found the home we now live in. We moved from CA to "home" and the moving van pulled up on Dec. 26 of 2007 and in we moved! We are glad to be home among family and friends and while I have never lived here before, it feels like home since my roots go back to the 1770's here and I feel like I know all there is to know about Wilkes (which, I'm sure, is not true!) But, here I am and since I am caregiver for my 90-year old dad and 85-year old mother, (who has since passed away on June 11 2009), I don't work and have some free time on my hands. I am going to attempt to photograph Wilkes County cemeteries over time and since findagrave was so helpful to me, I am happy to be able to add to the lists. I am willing to help with questions and answers about Wilkes cemeteries and history, but cannot guarantee I will do it in "your time". lol I love this website and appreciate all the great contributors.|

Her Find A Grave# is 92445060 and these photos were taken 03/14/2014 and Charles taken 03/17/14.
Oops, last number is wrong. Sorry typing on cell phone.
92445044 and 1972445060.
I just noticed that you took photos of Charles and Patty Porter's stone. I was told that they were cremated. Where did you find the stone so I can correct the memorials. Was it Mountlawn Memorial Park?

that's right! I didn't think about the issues with Find A Grave...btw...I've had several times that my Norton has had to block "vicious attack" while I'm on Find A Grave...scarey to use it now that I'm thinking about it more. I usually check my edits thingy once a day and try to go through them before I accept just to be sure and then if you had sent me a suggestion it would of sent me an email with it attached which I just double checked and didn't get in the last week or so. I usually only empty my trash about once a month lol...more here at home tho ;-)

Colleen changed the photo for you and said she hadn't had a request from you to change it.

You are going to receive a decline for the edit you sent for Mattie linking her to her father. If I accepted the edit, it would have deleted the mother and spouse. I did add her father the old way. I know there have been issues with this style edit. Thanks,

Hate to be a bother but G Frank Parsons and Green Franklin Parsons are the same person Grandpa and Aunt Bertha Parsons Welch were Twins. There's a lot wrong with his Death Certificate.
Thanks for hard work

Hi! Thank you for informing me of the duplicate. Hate when that happens. I have added the photo to the first and deleted mine. Thanks for catching this and letting me know. Have a great day!

Thank you so much for photographing the gravestone of William Larkin Joines. And a big thank you for also photographing the gravestone of his wife, Elizabeth, and posting a memorial for her. I did not have proof of her place of burial until now.
