Thank you to all the researchers who have told me that my work has helped them in some way. That is very important to me. I hope others who are able to take pictures and/or catalog cemeteries in the area where they live will do it. This is what this site is all about. Sharing with others who can't travel all over the country getting their family information.|
I love getting corrections, transfers, and link requests, but PLEASE DO IT FROM THE MEMORIAL PAGE as it is so much easier. It gives me all the info I need.....along with your request, of course! I will not do requests from the public message page. I am much too busy to look up the memorial to make the changes for you. DO ALL REQUESTS FROM THE 'EDIT' LINK ON THE INDIVIDUAL MEMORIAL PAGE!
Also, I've had quite a number of requests from people who think I also do free research. No, I don't. I take headstone photos and try to make sure cemeteries are complete and online. I have other hobbies. I don't do paid research either.
Happy Hunting, Kathy

|Mary Hines||RE: Correction on the Valentine Leonard page|
Family Search has birth and death dates for Johann Michael Leonhardt as b.1683 d.1733
The Find-a-Grave page says the birthdate for Johann was 1684. The main thing is to get Valentine Leonhardt's death date (Nov 13, 1781) taken away from his father who evidently died around 1733. Hope this is helpful.
|Mary Hines||Correction on the Valentine Leonard page|
There is an error in the piece submitted by Gary Leonard regarding when Johann Michael Leonhardt died. The date listed for Johann's death is actually the date of Valentine Leonhardt's death (November 13, 1781).I hope you can get this correction made. I do not know the factual date of Johann's death, but his wife died in 1746, I believe. I am the Great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Valentine and Elizabeth W Leonhardt/Leonard.I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution as a both Descendant of Valentine and Jacob Leonard. I grew up in Lexington, NC.Thanks for your good work and attention to preserving heritage and history!

|MB||RE: Columbus Cemetery Columbus IL|
Thanks Kathy, I hope so. The cemetery was severely vandalized in 1988, and repairs nearly wiped out their financial resources, which has had the cemetery with little to nothing to take care of it. All those stones I found came after much probing, and prying, as they were totally covered in soil and grass. As for the encroaching timber, I feel like I've hardly made a dent and I've knocked it back over 30 feet in some places. This is a huge undertaking for a senior citizen. Wish I could get some folks with strong backs, and chain saws and a big difference could be made a lot faster. But.. unless that happens I'll just keep plugging away over time. The stones are just lying on top of the ground now but at least someone can actually find them when they go to look for someone. Every soul matters, no matter how long ago.

I have just finished spending the last two months (Oct/Nov/2016) making nearly daily trips to the Columbus Cemetery, doing a detailed listing, condition of stones, locations, maps, and pictorial canvas of the entire cemetery. To date I have also located/recovered over 69 missing stones/grave locations, and have a min. of another 50 or more to go. All the 69 missing were found broken and sunk in the earth. My current findings are now in the research genealogy Illinois room of the local Quincy Public Library. There are over 200 surnames of families buried there, and over 740 souls known to date. I have also been working on recovering the graves lost to encroaching brush and recovered over a dozen of those so far. It is hoped that with time this cemetery will continue to improve in condition. It still has a long way to go. As time permits I will add any graves for this cemetery that you haven't already put on here. Hopefully no one in the future will have as much trouble finding their ancestors in this cemetery as I have, which was what prompted me to do this fall 2016 canvas.

|Amy Wendell Gibson||Minno Hedrick # 15917764|
Hello, I'm emailing to provide evidence that Minno IS NOT the child of Allen Hedrick # 15917764 and Nancy Smailes Hedrick # 101727280.
Allen Hedrick only lived in Fayette and Greenbrier counties, both in West Virginia. I'm related to Allen and know this to be 100% accurate. It's very possible there was an Allen and Nancy Hedrick who had a son/daughter named Minno that lived in North Carolina.
I've attached a link to the 1880 census that Minno would most certainly be on, if he were related. (you can also see the other family members on the census that are linked to Allen and Nancy on Find A Grave) I hope you can view the link. If not, I can always email.

I have tried to submit a transfer request to for the subject person (Find A Grave: 17676960) but it gives "error". Could you manually transfer Peter to me (Find A Grave: 47015440)?

Thank You so much for your expeditious transfer of the Memorial on Mary Cross Hargrave.
With Best Regards,
You have a Eliho, I think should be Elihu and he was born about the time you have...50 years earlier. Do you have any information on his immediate family. His daughter died in 1870 in Illinois and was married to my GGrandfather John P. Dipprey. I am unable to locate her in any Cemetery. She had a son in 1867 and went to live with grandmother, his wife in Nebraska. His name was Joshua Dipprey and he died in Seward County, NE. As well as his grandmother. His wife's name is Sussanah.
Any ifo you have on him is appreciated.

You're very kind. Bless you.

The grave of Julia Tew's mother, Mary Lona Preston, is in Eatonton, GA where I live. A tree has grown up next to the grave and will soon destroy the lovely marker if it is allowed to grown. I would love to save the marker but I must have permission from someone in the family for me to do any kind of work on this private grave. I noticed that Latitia Tew Leishman submitted info on Julia Tew and would like to talk to her as she is probably the next of kin. If you could help me locate Latitia Tew Leishman, it would save her great grandmother's marker. I can be reached at email@example.com or 706/485-6767. Your help is most important, thanks!
