Family is important whether you knew them or not. They influenced your life. I find many "traditions" a little piece of each member.|
I enjoy genealogical puzzles. I enjoy finding living people to reconnect especially adoptions.
My greatest struggle is researching, assembling information, uploading, then have a person "merge" a cemetery or duplicates. I put the info in the first dated entry per F-A-G rules. Then it is gone. What takes hours and hours to research and upload is disregarded by one click- delete. Be careful in your expectations
Walking through the cemeteries gives me a "feeling" of the times. I am not a psychic or "into" talking to the other side. However,on a few occasions I will walk past a grave; and "hear; 'I wish my family would find me' ".
I take the name, research until I find a relative and ask for the family historian. With that 9/10 times someone is looking for the grave. WOW not often; enough to keep me going.
TALKING ABOUT ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
Recently, I stepped forward towards a monument to take a picture as a volunteer. At that point, the ground gave way. My leg went in the ground at an angle next to the monument and under. Since I had no phone service only 911, I tried for almost an hour to wiggle free. Finally I gave in; called 911, to call my husband, to bring a shovel. Instead I had a fire ladder truck, rescue squad, paramedics, and the sheriff.
I was fine, but we all couldn't stop Laughing.
