|I first became interested in our family's genealogy. Then I started collecting old family photos. As my interest grew, I started exploring cemeteries near my hometown, where I learned that tombstones often give valuable information.|
Since I found Find a Grave, I have started walking through cemeteries taking pictures of all of the stones. I love the old stones, but they are often hard to read. I take multiple views, then photoshop them to enhance the lettering. I enjoy adding pictures of the tombstones to the memorials. If I don't find entries for the tombstones I have photographed, I add their names to Find a Grave.
You are welcome to copy the photos for your personal use. PLEASE, if you want to put them on Ancestry.com or any other website, please give credit to me. All you have to do is mention the Find a Grave memorial number or my name. It upsets me to see someone else take credit for uploading pictures I spent hours collecting or photoshopping.
If you know additional information you would like added to a memorial I created, I would rather transfer management to you than make the changes myself unless they happen to be members of my family.

Thank you for your good work. I believe that if you look closely at Wilber Dawson's middle initial on the gravestone, you will note that it is "L." rather than "I."

Thanks for the quick response. My mother and I met Dorothy back in the 80s in West Farmington. I copied several pictures from her back then. She told us about the Charley Harbison baby story, which my mother was shocked to hear for the first time. As a child, grown-up Charlie visited them occasionally in Oakmont. She sensed from her parents that there was something embarrassing about Charlie, she guessed alcoholism. What a surprise when Dorothy opened the tin container with the chains!
You can find my genealogy page at http://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/soc/faculty/roy/Report16/WC_TOC.htm. If you send me your email, I can send a family history I wrote up. My email is email@example.com.
Where exactly do you fit in?

Thank for your contribution to findagrave. I was especially interested in the photo of Thomas Chantler, my GGG grandfather (through Harriet Chantler m. Absalom Monks -> William J. Monks, m. Serepta McCall -> William Edgar Monks m. Jessie Mae Glenn -> Nona Alice Monks m. James R. Roy -> me.) This is the first time I've ever seen a photo of Thomas Chantler. I'm curious who has the photo and what other photos they may have. I have many photos of more recent generations, which I am happy to share.

Doreen, thanks for giving permission with your photo credit. I am trying to figure out a family mystery and you have taken 2 pictures of headstones that I believe are brothers....can you read what the words are for them?
