Becky Jacobs graduated from Elgin High School. 7 generations of my family is buried in the Prospect Cemetery. (Live in Abilene, TX since 1977). I have worked on genealogy research for 40 years and just completed my 19th family history book. I published "The Scrapbook of Prospect Ohio Pioneers" in 1988 from clippings from my Great Grandmother Rebecca Jane Bevis Hedges of whom I was named. My dad, Carl L. Jacobs was a Prospect township trustee. My great grandfather Stephen Bingham McWherter was the Sexton at the cemetery from 1921 until his death in 1923.I have checked these records against death and census records. Over 8500 obits from my cousin Sarah Longnecker Reichardt's scrapbooks, she gave me years ago along with obits from the Prospect Monitor, Richwood Gazette and Marysville Journal Tribune obits will be added as time permits. Thanks to Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in Richwood in helping me to honor those that have gone before.|
My dad, Carl also served as a trustee at the York Cemetery in Union County, Ohio. I went to Byhalia-York from 1st to 8th grade before moving to Prospect. May 19 2011 permission was granted from Leona & David Gustafson to use their pictures of the York Cemetery. This has added greatly to the memorials. Thank you Leona & David for your years of taking these beautiful pictures, we know the families will appreciate them. We are all working toward the same cause to
preserve the family.
In 1991 my friend Sherry Bowen Barger helped me copy the old cemetery record books. Sep 2011 classmates Larry Osborn & wife Norma and Terry Redmon helped take 4800 pictures of tombstones. Cousins Sylvia Bevis Harmon & Jean Bevis Clingenpeel shared copies of obit for this cemetery.
Jim Issler is helping me on this project. He has gave me files for 1923-1949 that I have edited
Ralph Issler (Jim's dad) is Superintendent at the cemetery since 1988 and we appreciate the great job he does.
My goal on Find A Grave is to link families together NOT to just add names. I have spent 1000's of hours looking up birth,marriage and death records to have the record as accurate as possible.

|Susan||RE: James Vance|
Carrie Pope Barrick had a mother named Samantha Jane Shoemaker. She married Asbury Pope in Gallia County and then had Carrie and her sister Brittie. Then Samantha Divorced Asbury and married James Vance. Then they moved to Marion County and had a son Samuel who died when he was young hit by a train. Then They had William Fanny and Delia. Then James died and Samantha married again. So this is James Vance's grave. Is that what you wanted to know? Not sure what you want to know.
Carrie is my Grandmothers Mother, who she never knew

|Stu Haley||Thank you|
I just found the listings that you did for Mrs. and Mrs. Richard Clyborn and their young son Jeffery. THANK YOU for including the news clipping on Jeffery. Mrs. Clyborn is a distant cousin through my Burtsfield line. The people in and from Marion County are the best!
|dhutson||RE: Jacob & Emma|
That is probably best
Thank you for your time
I will just make note on my ancestry page of the duplicates so that people can find both of them.

Sorry I didn't realize that JLS has his messages turned off so I can't send a message. Do you want me to send any edits to link all of them and just keep both memorials?

|dhutson||Jacob & Emma|
I think there are duplicate memorials for Jacob & Emma at the same cemetery.
Jacob # 105897132 & #13390435
Emma # 108791908 & #105897126
I'm not sure if you want to merge them or at least link somehow.
I am sending note to both owners of the memorials
I am working on the Munson side of my family right now with the help of The Munson Record by Myron A Munson is how I came across these. My great gma was a Munson.
Thanks for your time

Thanks! I noted the newspaper on his memorial.
|Cemetery Walker||John Wilson|
Thank you for adding the information about John Wilson. Do you know what newspaper the clipping are from?
Did you type up the obituaries? The one attached to Find A Grave Memorial# 61718314 is incorrect. The date of death should be 1934 as should on the tombstone and the memorial. If she died in 1959 he would have been 105 not 80 as the obituary says that he was. Do you what the name and location of the newspaper the obituaries were printed in? Thank you for all you do to make these memorials better.

I have taken pictures of all the graves and I don't have a picture of that stone.
