I (on the right) am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Private Lorenzo Leigh Bennitt Camp #773 in Durham, North Carolina. I am a member of the Point Lookout POW Descendants Organization. My wife and I have been doing genealogy together for almost 20 years. It is our passion. Through my genealogy work I have identified over 900 kinfolk (grandfathers, uncles, and cousins) that served in the Confederate States infantry, cavalry, and navy.|
My loving wife and best friend Joyce passed away on Christmas Day 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. When I return to taking my trips to libraries, archives, and cemeteries to continue my genealogy research it will be very difficult without my better half. We worked so well as a team. I miss her. Her memorial is #102701133.

I am so sorry about the loss of your wife. But I wanted to thank you so much for all you do. The pictures and descriptions are absolutely wonderful and such a great help.
If you have time, I do have a question about the Johnson family reunion photo clips. In the picture of Titus Winborne Johnson, would you happen to know which wife is in the picture? (Melinda Campbell or Amanda Nance?
Thank you again for your hard work and contributions to genealogy.

I came across this while working on a family tree for bennetts. I was wondering if you would happen to know if this was the robert duke that was married to eliza ann bennett, daughter of james and Nancy bennett of bennett place. Any information would be helpful! Thanks.

I'm working on a volume of grave locations for veterans of Co. L 22nd NC Infantry. Could I have your permission to use the picture you posted of Daniel Nance's grave in this compilation? I will cite you as the source.

Thank you for adding her stone photo. Your dedication is appreciated. Sorry to read about your wife and partner in life. Thanks for all the work you are doing for the Confederacy. Many of my ancestors fought, died, or suffered injuries. My belief is they were fighting not for slavery, but to prevent what we have today, an over-reaching and intrusive Federal government.

Hey John. I see you maintain the memorials for Lewis Snider Sr. and Jr. I didn't know that the "Old Buck Wall Place" cemetery even existed. I'm going to have to drive down there this week and find that. Is it difficult to access? On someone's private property?
Those two men would have been my 4th and 5th great grandfathers on my mother's side. (She was a Snider) She passed away in December, but was very much into genealogy. I just got access to her ancestry.com account today. It says you and she were 5th cousins, once removed. I think that makes you and I 5th cousins twice removed.
Do a search for Reuben Wood s Library. He was a lawyer, very prominent in Randolph Co. NC. A son of John wood Jr. from Middleboro, MA 1716-1794.
about 10 pages to work through, but enough to put one of the families together.
On the life of David Wood/Woods in Vigo, he left NC before coming to Indiana and went to Virginia for 6 years. I think I am looking for a different set of Wood/Woods that the one above.
However, the David's were legion. Orange Co. NC had a huge bunch of Wood.

Thank You for the site. I will look around. The woods I am seeking came from Davidson Co. NC/Randolph Co., NC. David Woods m. Mary Shuler/Schuler, and Marten Wood m.1814 to Elizabeth Schuler in parent county Rowan Co., NC. Found Marten on a WILL-1825 for Randolph Co. NC, the son of William.. he died in Morgan Co, IN.
David ,b. Davidson Co, Son of David & Mary(Shuler) Woods died in Vigo Co., IN 1908. Both men have a brother John.
